    Bobber Rear Axle Problem

I don't know what axles you've been working on but I'm going to have to disagree. Front axles do have locator pins. Valence has even broken one of his off while trying to change his caster. Here's pics...

    Bobber Rear Axle Problem

Thanks for your input. I've never taken apart the front suspension on a deuce but I just googled images of 2½ ton Rockwell axles and every one of them has locating pins for the springs. And nobody has suggested not using the deuce perches. Militarytrucks is just talking about welding a bead on...

What did you do to your deuce this week?

If it was 46 years old, damaged and operational, I'd be ecstatic. But this one is brand new with zero miles on it. Such is life...

What did you do to your deuce this week?

Installed radiator drain cock. Bonus: the damage done by failure to plan.

No Fuel, No Start, No Idea

Right! Now we're on the same page. [emoji106] I'm just making sure he checked all the simple stuff first before digging into the HH.

No Fuel, No Start, No Idea

The engine stop wedge can get stuck.

No Fuel, No Start, No Idea

Maybe I missed it but I didn't see anything about you checking the wedge inside the fuel cutoff housing.

Steel Soldiers MV of the month 2015 - September VOTE HERE

Out of curiosity, how are the entrants selected? Is it just random or do people put in their own vehicles?

What did you do to your deuce this week?

Just bought a radiator drain cock so I can finish the installation of the new radiator... after I solder up the hole from the damage caused by not properly protecting it while transporting it 1500 miles in the back of a truck. aua

ok, I am officially a glutton for punishment. Bought another deuce off the gubmint.

That's a pretty rough truck. Hope you got a REALLY good deal on it! If those front turn signals are original, it is definitely old. Maybe not '62 but surely pre-'67. Good luck with the recovery and storage!

    Won a 932A2 yesterday

Since you have to buy a bed anyway, just buy a deuce bed, bolt it on and be done with it.

    M35A2 Winch & PTO issues

Sounds like the drum lock isn't fully releasing. Maybe. *shrug*

    M35A2 Winch & PTO issues

Can't help you with the hard stop and no free spool but the slow spin of the output shaft while the PTO lever is in neutral is just gear oil drag. You could theoretically stop that movement by just holding the output yoke by hand. The operation of the PTO all seems normal.

    Bobber Rear Axle Problem

It's not so much about the u-bolts being loose but the setup being able to handle the lateral stress that it was originally designed for. Friction and clamping force aren't really sufficient to keep the axle perfectly located under all conditions. That's why all solid axle setups have some way...

    Bobber Rear Axle Problem

Both need to be accounted for, fore-aft movement and side-to-side movement, just like the original suspension.

    Bobber Rear Axle Problem

I'll get some tonight. After a phone conversation with militarytrucks.com, I guess it's a common problem but nobody has ever talked about it. Really makes me wonder how many bobbers are out there without having hard stops on the axle and are just trusting the u-bolts to keep everything from...
