Yep, for the aluminum radiator, the 16" will probably fine. I'm just saying that if somebody is replacing the fan on a stock setup (direct replacement, like this thread was originally about), then better to match the diameter as closely as possible to take advantage of the built-in shroud on...
The only problem I see with that summit fan is the diameter. The stock fan is 20" and that one is only 16". For a direct replacement, you might be better off with the 18.375" one. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/flx-418/overview/
Yup. I've already put 500 miles like this so it should be fine. Definitely appreciate the offer and I will keep it in mind if things get worse. I'm still 300 miles from Texarkana so hopefully my luck holds.
Thanks but not necessary. A turbo is optional on a multifuel. I still have oil pressure, so the only downside is the slower speed and the smoke. I changed the oil and no chunks came out, so I'm good to finish the trip.
Not gonna make it to this one. I'm in the middle of a 1400 mile deuce recovery and won't be back in town till tomorrow night.
Oh, and if anybody near Texarkana has a good turbo, mine blew out somewhere back in Illinois. Top speed is down to 53 and she's blowing all kinds of black smoke on...
What's the haps, FMJ?
I just discovered today that I need to buy a fan and I'm trying to justify $125 for a nylon one over $35 for a used steel one. I'm also considering about $100 for an electric one.
We skipped the electric heater idea. I figured that with everything that was going wrong, I probably would have set the dang truck on fire or something.
