If you're going to do that, might look into the new super-single wheels that a lot of OTR trucks are switching to. Would allow you to run their wide-base tires for extra flotation.
My XLs do great in mud, but are so-so in snow due to the very large tread blocks. Never had them in sand, so can't comment on that. There are decent on the street, but I imagine will wear faster than the 177s if you're concerned about that.

After shearing the ends off of two 3/4 drive breaker bars trying to get the "hella-tight" lugs off the front driver wheel (I was turning them the correct way, clockwise), I broke down and bought a Double-ended truck wrench and bar from Ken-tool. That thing didn't even flinch when I put the...
As long as you make sure that the chains are snug, they shouldn't give you any problems. I am strongly considering buying a set for my M35 after I get a cab heater installed.
My truck came with the same tall ceramic-ish filter in the primary. IIRC, the secondary filters won't fit in the primary housing because there's a "stand" in the housing of the primary. Like others have said, I plan on replacing the primary and secondaries with spin-ons the next time that they...
My deuce is being difficult to start this winter, but that probably has a lot more to do with the 10-15% gas blend in it than any problem with the engine or flame heater. I still need to check its compression in the spring, but even with the gasoline it would light up quickly around 40-50F. At...
doesn't meth move your octane up just the same? It has an octane rating of about 129 (source: wikipedia)
In either case, your point about cold starts is quite valid. Time to pony-up for for the white bottle from Power Service.
With a half tank of summer blend diesel and a couple gallons (5 or so) of summer gas, mine has been difficult to start on cold (10-15F) days, even with a functioning manifold heater. I plan on putting 2 gallons of gas and the rest diesel in the tank tonight. Not sure if it actually helps, but...
On a similar note: Does anyone know if NOS spark plugs and cables are available for the flame heater? I rigged something together for mine after finding out that the insulation was cracked, but would like to get the "right" part if its available.
Thanks!
