Floridianson that truck is sweet. I love the digital camo. Do you have a build thread on this truck? I would really like to see some more of the tag and its instalation as well as the paint job.
14 bolt is stronger it has 3 pinion bearings instead of 2 like all others. The pinion has the 2 standard pinion bearings but it has a third as well. The third one is on the snout of the pinion gear. It gives more strength in keeping the pinion engaged with the ring gear under extreme load.
Well if you wanted to go all out and run the 2 1/2 tons there are gear sets for them. Overson Engineering :: Ouverson :: Hardcore Off-Road Parts has 4.90 gear sets. I think there is another company making gear sets as well. Overson also has everything to make them completely bullet proof.
For spraying a bed liner or undercoating you need to use what is called a shutz gun. They are cheap at your local auto body supply, about $20. It hase a 1/4" nozzle to allow a good flow. As for the Herculiner fading, they make a UV top coat. It is not really advertised or carried in stores but...
I believe that the cap on the coolant sysytem is rated for only 15psi. I'm not 100% but im pretty sure thats whats most if not all coolant systems are rated to handle.
Does anyone know how or why these made it out of service? From my last understanding all Oshkosh trucks would go back to be rebuilt. Does anyone know or think there will be more to come out to the public? I want one so bad guess I just need to keep my fingers crossed and hope for the best.
I have and extra 1009 top. I am going to play with the slant back idea. If the rear window channel gets set up right there should be no reason the glass in the tailgate can't still be used. Just close it part of the way to fill the gap at the back and it should also slide in the side tracks...
