If it's been sitting that long, you need to do several things before applying power to the starter. First, clean the entire fuel system. Then make sure the engine will spin. Failure on either WILL cost you more time and $$$$.
Well, it sounds like there's not much there and I think you'll find that it's not worth much more than a parts truck or scrap. I know a guy in Southington who has a very nice M211 for sale (not sure if it's sold as of this minute) which will be much cheaper. There are also fire depts that...
Try Real Model, they have resin kits and accessory parts. Don't know their line-up well enough to know if they have what you want, but check their site (Poland or Czech)
Last year when I was planning on making the 4.5 hour trip from CT to the PA Gathering site, I asked questions about the schedule, where they would be and when. The responses were very helpful and I was able to plan my trip. I found the entire group to be very friendly and more than ready to...
Saturday was a good time, though seemed like more than a few vehicles were starting to leave about 2-3 PM. There were several tanks, 3 Shermans, 2 Stewarts, a Chaffee, a Helcat and a Priest. Add a couple of half tracks and a M-8, some German stuff and more jeeps and beeps than you can count...
I think you need to get copies of James Lyles' books Hard Ride Vol 1 and 2. I seem to recall seeing a deuce with "external" armor plate that hung down over the side of the bed. If true, then what you want to do would be correct for that truck. If not, what you propose might not be...
Can't help with the vehicle, but I can bring some gear for Saturday when I come down. Your choice, I can do my 196th LIB Grunt or 71st AHC Huey pilot either in jungle fatigues or the later nomex.
I posted the link to the 2011 pics at: http://www.steelsoldiers.com/upcoming-events/72832-weare-nh-rally-3.html
since this is really the 2010 thread...
It was a great time, I was there Saturday and the weather was perfect. Thanks to Asgar for inviting me on the trail ride, it was a blast (even though I forgot I had brought my gyro-stabilizer with me, left it in the car....darn!)
Photos are up: Weare 2011 Photo Gallery by baywing at pbase.com...
From another site, it was reported that his nose gear had failed. Earlier photos show he did a very good job landing nose-high and kept it up until airspeed dropped and gravity took over.
There are several pictured in James Lyles' Book Hard Ride Vol 2 and more supposedly coming later this year in Vol 3.
I've had a few folks ask if I had considered doing one when I talked about doing a M37 GT. If you're determined to use a 50Cal, think again, the pedestal mounts on the M151's...
One Month, minimum. Just let it sit, don't put on the letters, stars or other markings. I'd also protect it from getting wet, no washing. Gararge vehicle if possible.
