Yep, you can't see me but I'm driving. Took it down to the Power Wagon get together they used to have near Sedalia. That was a picture they put in the 4 Wheeler magazine. I never saw tires at Swedins, I do remember they had axles in crates. That has been alot of years ago though. I can't...
Owned 2 of them, God I miss them. Wish I had one of them back. Use to drive them around the west side of Denver in the Golden area from my house in the mountains. Air operated transfer case, go from 4x8 to 8x8 on a flick of a little lever. Clened out the bilge pumps, they worked great. Found...
Yes, parts are available for the models of M37 series PTO's. There were two types used on the US versions. The M37 used a single to the front output type, while maintenance type series used a dual output type. They are identical except for the main output shaft, and the rear output bearing...
Bill, Bruce, I'm very glad to see you two still visiting various sites like this. My Son and I were stopped to glass for game and enjoy a delicious and hearty MRE meal during one of our many hunting trips last year, while parked he mentioned it would be nice to use the glove box door as a bit of...
Yes, that is my truck. I built it almost 20 years ago. A 6X6 ambulance, that would be interesting. Would you extend the patient compartment or what did you have in mind?

The axles on the WC 3/4 Ton trucks were wider than the M37. The perches are different as well. There differences in the very early 1942 WC axles and the later WC 53 axles.

If you're looking for something like a Dana 60, 70, or 80 you're not gonna get that lucky. Both the 8 3/4 inch and 9 5/8 third members corporate. The M37 used the 9 5/8 ring size exclusively. The ratio used in M37's is 5.83 to 1.

No, but not a major obstacle. The 8 3/4" diffs were 2 pinion, while the 9 5/8 were 4 pinion diffs. The diameter of the shafts are the same at 1 3/8 10 spline. The actual shaft is 1 1/4 inch between flange and splines. The difference in 8 3/4 and 9 5/8 shafts is the length. The 8 3/4 is 36 17/64...
There are both Redi Sleaves and Speedi Sleaves. They run anywhere from 30 to 40 dollars. I have seen them for less but they are generally in a size that I don't need. A flange from AB Linn is your best bet. Chances are the seals available from parts dealers are leather as well. IMO it is best to...
The very early 3/4 Ton dodges used converted 1/2 housings and there were tags welded tothe housings stating use 2 gaskets. Those are not very common. The 42's and up used the basic same thirds as the M37's. You'll find the yokes are splined the same but the flanges are different. The M37 axles...
I've only owned 4 or 5 5 Tons over the years. My last one was just before something called a CDL was all the hullaballoo. Are CDL's still associated with the GVW of the truck? Are they still required regardless if the truck is Private or Commercial?

An idea here. It would involve getting the folks on this site together as a somewhat organized group, involving and supporting the Military Vehicle Preservation Association, and retaining a lawyer located in or near Maricopa County Arizona. Lawyers charge by the hour but perhaps by involving the...
I have most of the paper manuals and actually prefer the complete set I have on cd, or is it dvd, whatever. They come all together on a disc you can select the page and print it out if you need to. Won't get wet, won't tear and if a print out gets greasy, you just print out another copy. Do a...
The last M37B1 was delivered under a 1968 contract. you can on very rare occassion still find a 1968 US model M37B1 in private hands. The M37 from the experimental models up to the last model off the line in 1968 had the T245(A in B1 series) flat head six cylinder 230 ci engine installed...
Both M43B1's that I had were painted a light green in the patient compartment. The exact shade I have no idea, but it was the same as some armored vehicle interiors I have seen.

It looks very complete including the bed bows and spare tire carrier. There is a fellow who makes a disc brake conversion kit. The best place to check out would be Cabell's web site that is all about M37s. His site would probably be the best place to get a feel for where you're heading. I have...
Advice, well, here goes. You can spend all the money you want, to getting your M37 to where you want it to be. Completely museum quality, motor pool ready, stock. retrofitted, barely running and ugly, whatever you want. There are disc brake conversions, engine conversions, air operated...
The only thing I have found on changing a DOT 3 system over to a DOT 5 is that you have to completely flush your brake system with a non residue brake flushing compound. Supposedly most brake systems are compatible with DOT 5, I have heard some folks who have had troubles after trying to change...
Good call, I had completely forgotten about the older style and the suppressor. Thanks for reminding evryone about that little box. I see so few of those suppressors, I think only once in 25 years. And come to think about it, only one or two of the fuel filters, I mostly come across B series...
