Thanks for noticing it as well and mentioning my statement. I got a momentary warm feeling, like peeing in a pair of dark slacks in a poorly lit room.

Used these folks before, and a couple of others when I converted the M37 from 24 to 12.

No, definitely not an M37B1, probably an M42B1. But mistaking an M37 for an M42 would be easy enough.
I'm just yanking your chains, the M42 series was an M37 only with a few changes such as windowed cargo cover and table and a few other items.

The reason I was commenting about the capacity rating is that the W400 shares the same front and rear axle setup as the W300, the only difference is the addition of a single extra leaf in the rear spring pack. The W400 according to Dodge was rated at 1 1/2 Tons.
How were the front fenders...
Unlike another common auction service that is dishonest, scamming and without question crooks, you'l like GSA. I've bought stuff from them for years. No added on fees, no fine print that allows them to intentionally misrepresent items like another auction service and then tell you to go screw...
I start my four day rotation at work early in the morning, 12 hour shifts. I'll get a chance to take some quick pics Monday. I'll post a couple then. Does your W400 also have a NP203 transfer case? If I understand the info correctly either 1978 or 1979 was the last of the 203's. The 360 in it is...
I just picked up a Dodge W400 contracted for the US Navy under contract
N 62472-78C-1609. The truck has USN registration number 71-02527. The truck is a 1978 4X4 with a 360 V8 and a NP445 manual transmission coupled to a NP203 transfer case. It has a Reading Utility bed. It was listed as...
Yeah, we have those pick and pull places here as well, pretty much worthless for the years we're talking about. I like the ones in or near small towns or out in the farm lands, but again, hopefully they didn't take advantage of the scrap prices when they hit highs awhile back. I'll keep my eyes...
Exploring Junk Yards
It may sound odd to some folks, but taking tours of junk yards can be very helpful, entertaining, and informative. I love the yards where there are old treasures that didn't fall prey to the recent spike in scrap prices. I love to pop the hood on all Dodge trucks, looking...
M37 Fire Wood
Interesting finding this thread. I went out today and loaded this up. The bed is 10 foot long on the M37 6X6. There's right around 5' x 4' x 10' of wood.
I bought a Dodge W400 truck near Oklahoma City and will be heading there from near Denver to pick it up on Decmber 27th. I'll be towing an 18 foot dovetail and can carry upto 9,000 pounds. I'll have the bed of my 3500 empty on the way back. If I can help anyone out let me know.

Thanks Guys, I must have had an odd Canadian M37. The radiator had been moved forward and an odd extension had been added to the hood end cap to cover the relocated radiator top shroud. It appeared all factory with all the standard Canadian trimmings. For folks looking to add some additional...
The administartors closed the thread because it actually belongs in the classifieds. By reading the post I have questions. It states it has a 251. These were used in the Canadian versions. Because the 251 is 2 inches longer than the stock US M37 235cuin engine, the folks in the north had a...
Do you need the winch only or the entire setup? I need to finish a PTO rebuild to have a complete set up. And also a used winch separately.

Hi Bill W. Just like you and for the same reason, I don't go on G741 anymore. I heard from Tony Eagling (aka Monkey Man) a few weeks ago asking how I was doing and if I would consider coming back. That individual you're refering to has presented me with so many frustrations I just won't deal...
The oval window top is a very early military adaptation of an existing metal cabtop. I believe it was from the CCW series but don't remember for sure. The middle sliding window top is a designed for top that the military bought through contract. The bottom top is an aftermarket variety. Unsure...
Emissions are not required for any type of fuel vehicle in my county here in Colorado. I have 12 acres so getting my past trucks registered as Farm was never a problem. Clerk asked me if I had any livestock, I replied I pick up bags of sunflower seeds to feed the Chipmunks and Golden Ground...
