    So the MTVR adventure begins

Productive day today since it warmed up to the 50s! Primary and secondary fuel filters changed. Hand primer seems to have an issue though, seems the check valve isn't working as I can see it push the fuel but then suck it back with each pump. Will pick up a new one tomorrow. Transfer case fluid...

Yep! Guessing there are other suppliers too.

    So the MTVR adventure begins

Got the right leg all modified. I will be using spacers for both left and right, although right I shortened the rear mounts as if spaced out they would hit the exhaust heat shield. This is a left side leg cut up and rewelded to make it into a right. Got a new package in the mail

    So the MTVR adventure begins

Sure would be nice if the government let us have the manuals to the trucks we paid for (twice).

    So the MTVR adventure begins

Well dang it, found out there are at least two rear turret strut versions. These are apparently made to fit with spacers on non armored cabs or without on armored. Made some measurements and ordered aluminum spacers ..will update with sizes after verification. Also found out the right rear...

    So the MTVR adventure begins

Painted the turret supports with the Rapco paint, nice guy. Thought the block heater would be easy but that 1"npt plug was not cooperating. Had to take off the doghouse...which also fought me with rivnuts that spun. Applying wedging pressure to the straps allowed the bolts to come out. Some I...

    So the MTVR adventure begins

Poking around and trying to figure out the truck a bit more. This black thing is the flasher module. This silver thing under the driver dash is the 12 v converter. It's not sealed and obvious water had gotten in. Lots of crud on it so took it apart and cleaned it up.

LED reverse light. Found a great replacement for $11 at Harbor Freight

Fits perfectly in the stock location, is IP67, 12/24 V, mount width and through hole match the bracket on the truck. I took apart the connector on my old light and soldered the wires in so it plug into the truck harness just like the original...

    So the MTVR adventure begins

Got my seat working again - raise and lower switch had been taken for some reason. Pretty sure this is a standardized part. Also replaced the ether line and fittings since they had been kinked and now the entire ether system is brand new. Replaced my reverse light with one from Harbor...

M1078 Fire Truck with eco hubs

Based on my experience and how easily it idled over rocks on a step hill with 30klbs, I think you would be just fine. I don't have a ton of experience doing the kind of trails you are talking about though. This video will give you a pretty good idea of how they perform offroad with Eco Hubs...

M1078 Fire Truck with eco hubs

I would guess you would be fine. I'm a former FF (ass chief) and have a 330hp (C7) at just over 30k lbs. I'm able to idle over 18" rocks, lots of steep climbs around here as well, and they will slow me down to 30mph. Although that is way better than some of our tenders that would be doing 15 up...

    So the MTVR adventure begins

A few hours with a cutoff wheel, reciprocating saw and a welder and you can convert a rear turret support from a left to right hand one.

Intermittent check engine light at max speed/RPM

I did see this in another forum talking about the 173-11: " The ECM calculates the engine exhaust gas temperature, by using the readings of the Inlet Manifold Temperature Sensor and the Atmospheric Pressure Sensor (along with a rpm factor). When the calculated engine exhaust gas temperature...

Intermittent check engine light at max speed/RPM

102-7, this is a very common issue when the linkage on the wastegate actuator is sticky. I had this and lubricated it with some white lithium grease I had on hand. Haven't had any issues since. Moving the actuator manually you could really feel the resistance and how much better it was with the...

    So the MTVR adventure begins

Got the ladder installed...probably the easiest install anything will be on this thing. Picked up turret arms for $1100 shipped. The rear two are the same side so I'll flip the brackets over as needed. I may be modifying the top of the arms for my needs.

    From fire truck to MTV

Have had some exceptionally cold weather today. Made for a good test of the mini-splits heating. It is constantly maintaining 50F in the truck to prevent any water freezing. It maxed at -16F today and the Fujitsu Mini split (9kbtu) had no issues maintaining the 50F. I did get the low temp...

    So the MTVR adventure begins

Very true. It would have to be much more robust of a structure, or do some kind of support leg set up. I'd like to avoid that though.

    So the MTVR adventure begins

Playing around some more with habitat configurations. 2300 ft^3 with a rear sliding expansion. It doesn't look as cool as the side expanding ones but does have a lot of advantages...1. One sliding portion instead of 2 2. The side walls encroach on the walking area when retracted. 3. often side...

    New Owner - 2001 MK25

I forget the modified numbers as the curb weight is calculated with people, weapons. So looks like my mk23 should be about 26800lbs. (1200lb weight difference with the winch) wanna drag race....power to weight ratio :)
