My experience is the C7 is not compatible. I tried it in Cat ET on the one I have and was a no-go. They are also constructed differently with the C7 ECMs having 4 tapped holes around the plugs for a cable protector.
More pertinent to 6x6s but do you go through and replace all the ball joints boots? I've done them all except for the center V-rod boots as they looked the most painful. Mine were basically non-existent and it was a MME truck.
I didn't find much info on this, however if you look at "OSHKOSH MTVR 7 TON 3919960 FRONT BALL JOINT PARTS KIT 2530-01-611-2747" you can get some hints.
For the balljoint, there are shims and snap rings. So it's possible they are either slip or press fit into the arms, likely with the NPT plug...
Got the turret mounts on after making the spacers. The driver side needed 1.5 and 1.25 spacers (1.5 on the back of the cab).
The passenger side is a modified driver side unit, with no spacers on the back as they would hit the exhaust heat shield. This meant I had to reposition those brackets to...
Got the replacement oil cooler installed today. Went pretty smoothly, still need to pressure test the system.
Installed all new fuel hoses, made up by my local CAT dealer. I love the silicone on the fittings, all came off great with no corrosion.
So, what is this thing? Connected to the...
So I found the issue with the coolant in oil. The coolant heater I installed is too long and damaged the cooler core, allowing coolant to pass. This is going to cost a few thousand for a new cooler and hours of time. Not pleased. At least the truck hasn't been started since I put in the heater...
Makes me wonder why the truck has two oil coolers? Guess the CAT on on the block wasn't enough so they added the additional one in the radiator? Actually...the radiator one may(probably is) a transmission fluid cooler.
Oh yeah I'm for sure on the side of replacing every seal I touch when doing stuff like this. Hoping for a seal, but could very well be the heat exchanger itself...pricey.
So I think I got really lucky. No evidence of coolant ever reached the motor. Seems like something failed after I parked it and I just decided to change the oil at the right time.
Pressurizing the coolant results in a steady drip of coolant out the oil filter base (it was dripping all night...
I'm going to pick up a coolant pressure tester today, along with a gas byproduct tester.
I've barely driven the truck - only a few miles since unloading. Coolant went down a lot from when it was delivered so this seems like a new and rapid leak.
I did drain the crankcase - absolutely no...
Used some choice words when I took off the oil filter and bright green coolant spilled out. Truck has been great and then I find this. I've done previous research on the c12 and am aware of some weaknesses from overheating and cracking heads. Maybe a liner is cracked, maybe the block is...
