Personally, I think buying an CUCV through GL is much more of a risk than buying a deuce. Which is kinda sad because they are easier to own, less cost, maintenance, etc.
My M1009 I bought through GL although was inexpensive, wasn't as easy to bring home as my deuces were. I lucked out because...

You may have to go the 'ditch, ramps, and come-a-long' route to get the trailers in the bed.
I dragged a stump to add tension. Making sure the cable stays where you put it at the start, and after you take tension off of it are the hard parts. I'll probably be using it again soon, and once I get a 'soldier B' over to the house I can get it on the drum properly. :-D
I've got an idea that I'm going to try with mine. I'm going to make a sleeve that goes behind one of the shackles on the square tubing. The shackle will hold it into place, and it'd be removable by taking off the shackle. Then I'm going to weld a frame to hold the license plate.
It was a pretty day out, and my immediate supervisor had been bugging me to bring a truck to work, so I drove one of the better looking trucks to work this morning.
Traffic wasn't too bad, got to work while all the managers were in a meeting, I didn't know how the director would take it...
Just got done mounting the pintle/ball combo I bought from Harbor Freight for $39.99. Notice the grade 8 hardware. :cool:

1. Even if you read and memorize the TM, you still have a high chance that you'll get hurt.
2. Steel cable is heavy and very greasy. The grease is there to hide the metal slivers.
3. If pulling a tree over, make sure to measure the height of the tree and that the cable is LONGER than that...
