Oh I agree, in most cases. The first one I did, everything came off down to the skid. The 2nd one (that I made this guide out of) there were some circumstances that required me to not de-lid the unit.
If I have to do it in the field on a customer unit, I probably wont de-lid. or at the house...
You sound like me with rotella... Rotella is like franks red hot... I put that **** in everything. (including gassers even though I dont own any other than a zero turn)
Lets not get carried away now, we know how waterproof the MEP-802A and MEP-803A are when it comes to their exhaust systems. rofl
So maybe not ALL military gen sets, but most.
Replace the rotor bearing while you are at it and remove all desert sand in the bottom of the genhead. I actually posted a thread about replacing that without removing the engine but if you area already doing that then should be a lot less cursing in your future...
Thanks to Guyfang for posting somewhere stating that it was possible to change the rotor bearing without pulling the engine I decided to tackle it and go farther because I had a 803A that had a rear main seal fail, and was successful. I was able to (mostly) solo replace the rear main and rotor...
IIRC I think I did a sustained run at 6kw but dont recall how long. Ive momentarily loaded to higher to see how far I could push before engine couldnt keep up and HZ drops but I cant remember what the actual number was. Somewhere close to 7kw I think.
Dont hate me but I had a local in-person...
Yea, we dont need to get into all that and muddy the waters even further. Concepts come before real world when learning anyways. Full humor coming your way (thats what you asked for right?... oh, that wasnt literal.)
So basically to make sure that I am following, the potential of coil 1...
That being said, what do you and/or experts that were to perform the loading, what would be a safe step for loading up a generator to 100%? is 2000watt resolution too big of a jump when going from 0-10k? Reason why I am asking is the swift-e that I have involves a whole lot more switch toggles...
Well all things aside I am used to splitting a hair then splitting it again. I build a trailer to a 1/32 tolerance and I pulled the running gear off a M105 to find the true center of gravity and built massive spreadsheets for all my different options to load up with tongue wait and fuel...
I regretted not going past half a year of calc 1. I was the kid who took took 2 maths in a year just so I could take calc 1 my final year in highschool. Had some life events which caused me to drop it though.
I might self teach myself in the future but I barely have time to grab lunch, let...
I was wondering why the peaks were a bit pointed. Care to explain the fundamentals behind that? I mean I understand its double delta and its the sum or difference and some geometry. Or maybe just what I could search for so I could look it up and read for hours when I should be sleeping.
I hereby nominate this thread "fastest growing thread of the year" rofl... Most threads a few posts a day, this one is a few pages a day.
I will add that this thread is becoming the 1 stop shop for all engine work. It is compelling me to rebuild a waterlogged spare I have laying around...
I full agree with this. I dont like spreading bad words about people but it would likely do the community a favor (esp here in florida where since Irma everybody wants a generator) to not get burned.
The roll pin sleeve thingy for the vacuum that I was talking about or something else?
I have a trashed engine (water in exhaust) that ive been sitting on however I dont know if I want to start parting it out (I havent pulled the cover or head to see if its salvagable yet, its last on my list)...
This actually came up in another thread today. The valve covers and head have air passages that go into the intake so the vacuum caused by the engine sucking air and the air filter restricting it causes a vacuum...
I 2nd that. For my house and my friend's house we both use 5kw units as primary backup power and have a 10kw on a trailer just in case. I just wish they werent paint shakers.
