Don't you need about the same amount of clearance to drill the hole as to run the tap? I'd hate to see you snap a hardened tap off in a slightly undersized hole. Now that would be a bear to fix ...
I would say, it really didn't take me long to understand the "hybrid" system in the CUCV's. The majority is a straightforward 12volt system. Add on an additional 12 volt system in series for glow plugs, starting and charging the additional battery. Then the necessary components to isolate the...
I don't know if it will be OK to operate your truck in the current condition. I will say, if it was mine I would not do so. Just what I would do.
I hope this helps ...
Vhyle, I'm sorry, I don't intend any insult with this. But, you are putting way too much energy into avoiding buying the right parts. If you had ordered the parts as soon as you knew what was wrong, NAPA could have gotten them to you by now. If you ordered the tubing from Badger you would...
As far as starting is concerned. What were the temps when you tried to start it? 30 seconds sounds a little long for GA temps. In zero degrees F up here I was seeing wait light cycle times from the stock GP controller of about 18 seconds. Most of the time these days (low to mid 40's) it is...
So why is there an excessive draw? Is the relay shorted somehow? Is it supposed to be energized?
Sorry, not all that familiar with the Ambulance platform. But, something just doesn't sound right with it.
I don't recall any of those open slots being immune from the service light switch being turned off. I may be mistaken on this though. That is why I wired directly to the battery for the radio memory.
This works for me. I used the piggyback fuse holder to power a secondary fuse block straight off the front battery via a relay. This allowed my accessories to be powered on and off with the key in run and accy positions.
For my stereo memory, I attached the memory lead directly to the battery...
FYI, the replacement horn relay I obtained from NAPA has a diode built into it. Snipped the failed diode out and replaced the relay. All is well for 8 months now.
Most advise using a block heater in temperatures about 20 degrees F or lower. Cost/benefit at temps above that are usually not there.
You want a minimum of about 2 hours of run time. Most hook up a timer that will start the unit about 2 hours (or more if really cold) in advance of starting...
Hi Matt,
Start by spending some time reading the -20 TM. Section III Troubleshooting. They start with electrical troubleshooting. Then, you can start looking at section 2-59 on page 108.
This will make it a lot easier for us to assist you.
Get a decent quality multi-meter as well if you...
Connecting Rod/Drag Link Replacement
OK, I can't bear to watch this happen.
From the -20 TM, Page 453 - Connecting Rod Replacementa. REMOVAL
1. Remove 2 cotter pins (2) and nuts (1). Using puller, remove connecting rod sockets (5 and 8 )
from steering arm (6) and pitman arm (9). Remove 2...
Coolant Technologies
Standard ethylene glycol coolant should be fine. Any high quality product should work well for you.
Now that I answered the question, here is some additional information regarding the orange stuff.
In regards to Dex-Cool: You will see a lot of opinions regarding it's...
