    002 teardown and rebuild

Jimc-I'll be watching this one.... I have three of these things.

    002a

I had something in mind like that. Looking at a soft wax or the small styrofoam crack sealer that won't stick to both gears and alter the image when the gears are pulled apart like soft grease. Going to read the tm's, but I would imagine that the gears need full engagement without bottoming...

    002a

Yea, I can see that (having spent 4 years in the military). There is a slight wear pattern on the camshaft gear driving the ip about at 1/2 tooth depth. Looking at the shims, there was a layer of the red hardened goop on each shim. I'll bet the additional shim pack height moved the gear...

    002a

When I took the ip off the block, I could not feel any shims and thought here is one that does not need them. This afternoon, I looked closely and there are three shims glued to the block with a red sealant (red locktite or leaklock). Took 1/2 hour of prying and soaking with laquer thinner to...

    002a

Coming from 3 hours away, the pickup experience was good once I found the right building on Ft. Meade. Someone picking up materials has to go to building #77, go through the parking lot to the small building behind it. Once I found Justin, he jumped on the loader and said "follow me". Had the...

    002a

Picked up another 002a at this month's GL sale at Ft. Meade. It is a reset unit from WVNG. Has 163 hours showing and is tagged as reset at 163 hours. Looks like it was repainted and has a new wiring bundle out of the control panel. Engine is dirty under the access covers. Wonder how much of...

    P50 O-rings

Have a need for a few Ambac p50 o-rings. From what I have read, Ambac requires a minimum buy (have not contacted them yet). Anyone have a couple of them they wish to sell? Looking for the hydraulic head ones especially. Thanks, David

    MEP 002A overcharging

Update-Storeman furnished two DCVR's and installed one yesterday. Run other 002 last night and had an intermittent overcharge so replaced that one too. Both 002's charging as needed instead of overcharging. Thanks Storeman.

Parallel operation of MEP-002A or MEP-003A, with video

I have never put an oscilloscope on it, but my battery ups does not like the power output and will not switch to the generac unit in post #53. Voltage and hz are correct and everything else takes the power ok. Ran house with the new to me 002a last week and the ups took the power ok. Now back...

    MEP 002A overcharging

johnray13-Batteries are of 03/2013 vintage. Bought one set (2) them to shift around between the sets until I figure out what they need. Then I found out they really spin the 002 pretty well. They fit in the original battery bases with a little height adjustment-I may keep them. At $28 apiece...

    MEP 002A overcharging

Grega, Thanks for the link. I had seen the post a while ago. Think I am going to take the grounds apart just to double check everything around the charging system. Just kind of funny that both units start overcharging like that.

    MEP 002A overcharging

Noticed my 002a's are overcharging the 24 volt batteries (battery meter in high red). I have been using two 12 volt lawnmower batteries in the interim until I decide what batteries I want to use (redo base with two standard batteries or go for the special ones). The lawnmower batteries spin...

Parallel operation of MEP-002A or MEP-003A, with video

Not to segway too far, but the dual power head is possible. I have a Generac pto 120/240 generator that has worked good in the past. Put probably 160 hours on it during power outages. Downside is it ties up the tractor powering it. As you can see from the picture with the end bells removed...

    My new to me 002A's

Jerry, The #14 button was on the pump I had switched to get the second unit running. That was also 1 1/2 marks under pc when I checked it yesterday. Unit ran and carried a load very well. Is Ambac the best/only source for buttons? Thanks, David

    My new to me 002A's

Ok, I think I have it now. Mep 002A has a #1 button installed. On a spill test, the flow stops 1 1/2 marks under the pc mark. Reading the TM, this means three button sizes too small. I need to up-size to a 14 or P button. Anyone have a 14 or P button they wish to part with? This seems to...

    My new to me 002A's

This ip came off this unit. Ip had a #1 button on it.... My error-looked at my notes and it belongs back on the other unit.

    My new to me 002A's

OK guys, need a little advice here. Installing a checked out ip that storeman did for me (thanks storeman). In completing the spill tests, I keep coming up with the timing being 1 1/2 lines under the pc mark. Currently have a #12 button installed. I do have a #1 button available. Question...
