    15.5r20 michelin tires

Tire use question- I saw an add for 90% Michelin #15.5 R20 tires. Can I use them in front axle with my A2 5 ton with worn to 60% 14.00r20 super single rears? the listed dia is 47" for these and a bit more for new # 14 r20 tires. I don't lock my front axle unless offroad or snow covered roads...

    Super Single tire swapping

Wow- Plenty of Blow Out Stories! Glad nobody really hurt. I worked on old steamships for decades- some things with big machines can and will never be completely safe- something the Seat-Belt Minivan types may not ever realize. I did mean "flip" as in "Flip-Over" for a Lineman's football work...

    Super Single tire swapping

Thanks to all. I won't sweat changing the tire rotation direction. I too have a crossed over front hub- thought mine was "one of a kind"! Can swap with tires. I don't have many hours seat time yet- blowing a front kind of had me spooked- lot of weight up there. Still will shop for a pair of...

    Super Single tire swapping

Hi all, asking for a basic opinion. I have a "A2" 5 ton with Super Singles. Looking to keep it safe on a budget. Want to put on new fronts (old ones have weather cracks) and swap around the others as needed. Figure a rear flat unlikely to kill anybody until I free up cash for more tires ...

    Air Press Switch

Hi all. Have a 5 ton A2. Just noticed that I have an air leak at the PRIMARY Air tank pressure tank switch, out the "weep hole" by its base. Is this normal?? It was just a fluke that I heard it as my ears are not "new". Does this switch only run the low air alarm? Thanks for the info! FWI.-...

    "NATO' 14.00-20 tires

Price looks fair. Do these bite good in dirt? Not scientific, but I like Goodyear over Micheline now. Will have to inquire as to tire age and shipping soon. Thanks again.

    "NATO' 14.00-20 tires

Hi all, been shopping for some surplus tires for my 5 ton A2. Saw a listing for "Nato: treads." I have 4 Non Directional Michilens and pair Good years now. How do Nato types work? Good for fronts? OK to mix and match if I keep same axle to axle? Thanks!

    M925 Winch Oil Capacity

One man's view- don't worry One man's view- don't worry! I figure (assuming no wacky sub zero temps) any OK GL 5 gear oil- classic straight 90 weight, any good oil you mentioned, et cetera should be A ok. Maybe old SAE 50 non detergent too- if your work bench still has a stash even! Good luck...

    Tire Rotation

    M925 Winch Oil Capacity

I also viewed that "Lube Order". Confused myself as left and right sumps seam distinct.

Dogging in front med duty wench

Thanks. I leave it with break on, and free spool. It does free spool, but after cable is rigged the lever needs a few taps to engage. Then it is fine. Usually stiff, but can disengage by hand most times.

Dogging in front med duty wench

Thank you for the prompt spell check! Yes, I read Operations Manual, Lube Order, and some of the repair books. Before I dig into an otherwise functioning machine I was requesting a second opinion on "reasonable real world " civilian function. My working theory is that the otherwise...

Dogging in front med duty wench

Hi all . Have 5ton A 2. The med duty fr wench likes a few hits with a rubber mallet to engage. Is that common? If not- what should I lube/ work on? Oil level (right side) OK. Thanks!

    Tamper SCREW or "Fancy Rivet" (silly question of the day?}

Hi all, "new Guy" type question. Have an A2 with the small turbo Cummings. Like to be able to adjust max fuel, and maybe install exhaust pyros some day. Question- are those little "tamper resistant" (bosh) screws, or fancy pop rivets? I ask as one resisted my cut slot and screwdriver and is...

    Stupid Bosch Security Screw…

Thanks again. I thought this might just be a simple tin dust cover.
