Installed the new MOSFET. Did not fix the problem. Good news though. It forced me to do something I wanted to do anyways. I bypassed the PCB control of the glows plugs completely. I will never have to worry about that box again for control of the glow plugs. The box feeds an 8 gauge wire...
Addressing FloridAKM's thought of what let out the magic smoke in the first place ever other sensor and part of the glow plug seems to check out OK. New MOSFET not coming in for awhile Thanks also papakb for the advise on a higher rated unit. I probably will search one of those out and try...
When starting my 1985 M998 the wait light would flash for a second and go out. Impossible to start when cold. It has a KDS protective control box dated I think Oct of 2010. Figured that was the culprit so I removed it, opened it up and Houston we have a problem. Look at what is called a...
Long story on obtaining this plate which I won’t discuss as per the rules but after a few trips to the emission station where on the last one I finally got the fuel set correctly enough to pass county emissions success was finally mine. I turned the fuel back at the injection pump a total of an...
No tires loose pressure with the plug off the ECU. If it was bad hub seal wouldn't that tire leak down? Going to pull the PCU, dismantle it and clean it up and see what happens.
OK for my problem of all tires deflating as soon as the pressure switch closes and it does around 120 PSI on the cab gauge. I put shop air air on the truck, no leaks noted or heard after two rounds of spraying soapy water on all joints I could find. Tried 2 more ECUs and it did the same thing...
My 1985 also has a worn idler arm. Center link has a half inch of play at that attachment point. Anyone know if that is a common part used on earlier Surburbans or large pickups
Not exactly sure. I do know 2 are for a garage. Two will be stacked in some arrangement for a second floor. I am not sure the owner knows what his layout will be to tell you the truth. If he ever finishes it I will post pics.
Good points. Avoiding the side loads would be a good idea. There is a cable running from the pintle hook to the lift chain to take most of the "pull" load.
It really doesn't know something is back there. In low range I just have to tap the gas to get it rolling. After that it will idle with that thing dragging behind with no problem. Yeh you can't lift these things with the boom on these trucks but you can move them around easy enough to get...
Friend is building a house out of nine 8500 lb 40 foot shipping containers. Moved a few around today. Dragged these guys around with ease with the 5 ton. Doing basic positioning. Heavy forklift will do final placement.

Bigmike, I just emailed them and they can't seem to find your order. Greg said to email him at orders@dataplates.net so he can locate your order. It would be great if they could find your order so we don't have start all over again. I think there are a bunch of us out there that would go for...
Andyrv6av8r and Jbulach, thanks for the suggestions. I will check the wheel valves and hook it up to shop air and try the run flat selection multiple times. When attempted I will post the results.
Don't remember any siren like whine. I will connect everything and check for something like that. Nice to have system but at least disabling the system allows normal use of the truck.
