Need blacked out copy of SF-97 for clueless DMV

In Washington, it really depends on the licensing agent. Some agents will do a title creation with a SF97, and a reassignment or a bill of sale, some won't. Seems to be mood based. Same thing happens with a title that's signed over to someone else. I've had some agents just type it in and...

Snagged a boat with the Deuce today.

That's odd- it's painted like a Navy "Captain's Gig" (the red waterline stripe).

A few good words about g.l.

While I'm sure there are some great private sellers, the ones I looked at (before buying my Deuce from GL) the trucks were unmodified from how they left the GL lot (well, except for all being stripped of jacks, tools, fire extinguishers, cargo covers, troop seats, bows, etc by the seller) and...

    Cummins nhc 250 color

When I was in the reserves most were OD green, but I have seen black ones. The one in my unit's 900 series was OD green though, mid 80s mfg. Never seen a tan one, but we didn't have any tan trucks except a badly painted 109.

    Aahhhhhh!!!

When I was in the reserves we had a 109 that hadn't had the wheels off in probably 10 years, PLUS it had waded out in saltwater 6 months prior. Had a inner dual flat, and had to get the wheels off... No air impact guns anywhere. We did have one of those huge spring-loaded impact wrenches...

    Replacing reflectors with lamps.

When I bought my Deuce, there were enough of them at auction that I intentionally picked out ones that already had the military side marker kit installed to be my "primary" bid targets, and that's what I got.

    blue antifreeze

The antifreeze we used in the Navy in the mid 90s was blue. It was still ethylene glycol antifreeze, though the anti-corrosive components were different (per the MSDS). Been too long for me to remember what it was though.

    WA / OR non-CDL guys

I wouldn't go trying to tell the counter person that your placarded weight doesn't apply because of axle removal, because that just might get you an appointment with a Commercial Vehicle inspector. You REALLY want to go through a State Patrol Commercial Division Inspection? To qualify for...

    deuce w/ shipping contaniner?

We carried a 8' CONNEX box in the bed of an M35A2C (dropside) when I was in the reserves. Held all our spare parts. It was one of those military-grade storage boxes, with the lifting mounts both for standard container lifts and military-type slings and tiedowns. It made the Deuce terribly...

    Where does your deuce live?

In my driveway, next to my boat, and surrounded by Datsuns. I live in a typical suburban grid neighborhood, and the neighbors don't say anything (the real estate agents complain about my Datsuns, not the Deuce).

    Strangest items requireing an EUC

Up here we had canoes. I mean, freaking fibreglas Coleman canoes right out of the MWR shed. Missing Paddles. EUC required. Must have been special force-recon canoes. Low RADAR cross-section? Well, they were green. Then they had a bunch of aluminum rowboats... same thing. EUC required...

    U.S.S. Kitty Hawk FS

A target is better than the end my ship met- at the end of a scrapper's torch. A few of the ship museums do try to exercise some of the equipment. While none of them light off boilers or cycle the main propulsion engines (except the Merchant Marine ship museums like the SS Jeremiah O'Brien or...

    Tach cable replacement

I didn't remove anything except the cable clamps and the cable assembly itself. Bit of a pain, but only the clamps were hard to get at. Took the broken cable assembly to a speedometer shop and they made a new cable that went in the old sleeve, cost $7, worked like new.

Trying to recover some batts with a batteryMINder

You made one little mistake- when the batteries are unbalanced, you never want to charge them in series. You need to charge them individually until they are balanced, else one gets overcharged and the other undercharged. In addition... The battery that's falling off to 9V likely has 2 bad...

    Seized pintle hook finally loose

When my USNR unit got our M109 in early 2000 the pintle hook was stuck 90 degrees sideways, and for all intents had probably been stuck that way since Desert Storm. It took pumping lube oil in the zerk, a BFH, and a long metal bar through the hook as a lever to get the thing moving. Once...

    Deuce = Coolest Scaffold Around

I've parked right next to the hedge, stood in the bed with the hedge trimmer to cut the top, and cut/dumped the trimmings right in the bed. WAY better than a ladder.

U.S. Navy Personnel Boat Recov! (Pics)

I tried buying one of those once... in fact the very one off my ship (26PE8414) that was on the USS Sacramento. It had a blue stripe... which designated the "Officer's Boat". Some outfit in Arkansas got it via the DRMS auction. Dunno how I would have trailered it if I had gotten it. I see...

    Locked Military padlocks

I have several American 5200s with no keys, attached to bits of chain. One is still welded to the floor of the deuce (they cut the chain and not the lock), and another is attached to a chain I cut out of a 5-ton when my old Reserve Unit got it from DRMO sans keys. I also have a bunch of 700...

    Auxilary Towing Lights

I can't remember, offhand. The magnetic lights were the cheap part, $19.99 or something. They were cheap Chinese stuff, but that's not why it fell off (I was towing a mostly wooden trailer and had screwed an angle bracket to the back for them to stick to, but that vibrated too much). The...

    Auxilary Towing Lights

I just made a set. Bought a set of regular 12V magnetic ones off eBay, bought 24V bulbs, swapped the wires around inside the housings (the brake and tail are backwards vs the 24v bulbs), and used a military trailer pigtail to plug into the truck. Bought the trailer pigtail on eBay too- it was...
