    Brake Light Switch Part Number?

I've done a number of searches, but I can't seem to find the part number for the brake light switch (the air type). I have the part number and a number of sources for the upgrade kit, but my truck was already upgraded by the military. However, the switch is dead (verified by jumpering the...

    Yet Another Air Wipers Thread

If it's any consolation my Driver's side wiper runs slower than the passenger side as well. It actually gets painfully slow the longer it runs, though closing and reopening the valve makes it speed up. Kind of repetative always opening and closing the valve.

    Tach Cable, 2nd Try.

You don't need a drill to see if the tach itself moves, just spin the part in the back where the cable goes with your fingers (it's enough to make the needle bounce). I had a bad tach in mine when I got it, the needle part would get "stuck" and spin around the gauge until it jammed up against...

PNW-2009-First Annual Chehalis River Valley MV Convoy

Unfortunately I can't make it- I have a race that weekend, and being that I own the race course AND the tow vehicle, it's kind of imperative I be there.

    Neat trailer

The DRMS site is cool. Was cool in 2000-2002 when I was in the reserves- we had one guy in our unit that got carried away and ordered a Huey. We were a Navy boat unit. He got his ordering privileges revoked when the Huey showed up on a flatbed at our reserve center. But DRMS is how we got a...

    A Garage for the Deuce?

Not GL, it's owned by the NSF. Doesn't say scrap in place, though dunno how you'd move it without some disassembly. It's pretty stripped already.

Drove a deuce to work today.

That's pretty cool. I can't take mine to work as our parking is an underground garage with 6'8" clearance, but I have taken it to the Museum I volunteer at.

NDCC Tire Design --> Obsolete and Unsafe?

The M923 my Navy Reserve unit had was equipped with ABS, but still had the NDCCs. Don't know what variant it was, though- the ABS was definitely a retrofit. We tried to get a M923 from DRMO to replace the M813 that was beyond salvage, but they couldn't issue us any due to the ones at DRMO not...

How do you drain the air tanks?

My Duece has the same bolt attached to one petcock like the picture above. I thought it odd, but I guess it's not so odd. The petcock works normally, just has a little extra leverage.

City is Messing with my deuces.....

I've found in general that it's Real Estate agents who make the most complaints. I get "Possible Violation Notice" papers just about every time a "For Sale" sign pops up on my block. I'll also note that while I've gotten 5 "Possible Violation" notices from the county Code Enforcement board...

    No more titles from maine!@!

It just might mean that Maine isn't allowing the "Title Company" to wash titles through Maine anymore. Why Maine? Your location says Maryland. Usually with the SF97, which costs a whole lot less than a Title company, it's not a big deal. As long as you fill out the SF97 request form properly.

I hope GL is watching this site.

No, everything has a $150 minimum now. Since January I think, as I bought some stuff at the old minimum bid back in December.

    LD465 vs LDT465 differences

I figure the non-turbos were trucks that simply never went through a depot because they never were in bad enough shape to need them, or were assigned to non-Army or reserve units. We had a M35A2C dropside Deuce with no turbo in my Naval Reserve Unit; it was issued to us in 2002. The truck had...

Is the HMMWV EPA or DOT certified

I've seen a HMMWV with an EPA Compliance sticker on the valve cover (the HMMWV even had a Catalytic converter, first I'd ever seen on a diesel). The sticker said it MET EPA requirements for that year. This was a fairly new, 2000 or 2001 model year "Heavy Variant" M1097A2 with the 6.5L engine...

    Personal Rant....... 5 ton wanted......

What annoys me is the dealers that bid up every like-item in an auction to the point no one else can afford- in some cases their bid is beyond last week's retail price. Of course then next weeks retail price is 3X what it was, because the dealer sets the retail price. When the dealers buy...

Multifuel gauge positions always the same?

Mine was done at Toole in 1992, but the gauges are arranged I believe "normally".

    Deuce manufacturers

The data plate on mine has "General Products Corporation, Jeep Division", which is backwards from the "General Products Division, Jeep Corporation". The dataplate is a VERY faded original from 1971, and has the AMC logo on it. They vary.

Trip to Smithsonian Air & Space Museum

If I ever get to DC that's on my must-see list. We are very fortunate here in Washington State to have the Museum of Flight at Boeing Field in Seattle. One whole wing is devoted to WWI and WWII (the Personal Courage wing) which is quite the experience.

Aviation grade engine oil for genset?

Now, the aircraft engines I work on are water cooled. The oil we run is around 80 weight, but is formulated for these engines. The issue is the bearing materials- lots of brass bearings/bushings (especially in the supercharger gear train and the cam bearings) and the main/rod bearings are all...

    Calling Tacoma/Seattle Steel Soldiers

I badly wanted to go but am fighting bronchitis... the doc has me on "no driving allowed" meds which kind of put an end to that thought. Glad to see there was a decent turnout.
