Under normal operation there is no noise at all. The inner part rotating is an egg shaped cam that wedges an inner drum and an outer drum with change of direction. The back gear in the TC turns 17 rpm while the front does16. As soon as the back turns free, the cams lock and drive the front...
The rear turns 17 rpm for every 16 that the front turns on the 809 series. The sprag is a one way clutch meaning that in one direction it is locked with a cam motion but in the other direction it allows the inner drum to spin one way. The back, while in forward motion, is always trying to...
The wide base semi tire I have is 41". New michelins at 22.5 all need a 14" wide rim and thus make size choice easier. The Michelins are about the same height as the GY I have. Rims are available in semi bolt pattern but it would be nice to have the 170mm BC drilled in the wheel. Adaptors...
Thinking of the 4x2 HMMWV rod project concept and working back from a 41 inch rear tires, with 410 gear, at 70 mph I would need 2350 rpm. Allison 545 does not have an overdrive, but does have 4 gears.
A gas 350 chevy seems a better fit than diesel at cross country cruise speed 2350 tranny...
When they moved the engine back closer to the CG, they put it nearly between driver and passenger. That would seem to make narrowing really a challenge.
Tobash, I like doing the fabrication and adapting this Dana 80 axle. It is from an E450 bus, and is 7" wider than normal. I learned a lot on my deuce rear springs with air bags and will build that way again.
I often fabricate with a welder in one hand and torch in the other ....sawmill...
Yes Tobash, I know of the gear reduction and the plan would be to entirely eliminate the OEM in back of a tranny (probably not the original...my starter vehicle if I mess with HMMWV is unlikely to be running).
A bus engine with Allison is not out of the question... I like Cummins...or Cat. I...
Cool ideas with the HMMWV.
Is there a supply of bodies and frames to hack up? I have a wide Dana 80 to use and could get rid of front drive to get a bit lower profile
Has anyone seen a hot rod, maybe not 4wd, hummer? Rat rod? I have a wide Dana 80 with 410 I'm wondering about adapting. Are there any bodies around, not all beat up, to build from?
I have to comment about the sentence on your OP . Your goals of making a tiny house and daily driver seem to conflict. Do you have a deuce already? It sounds like earlier than A3, which comes with its own set of problems.
My idea of a daily driver is a bobbed deuce with the bed made into a...
That is even better.....you use the tank in the frame and seal off the (old) In frame pump, using the pump from the 925. Some valving change is necessary but you could just take hoses from the winch and redirect them to the cylinder to have a working dump. All you need is a 2 circuit valve...
Go to Eastern Surplus (PA) and look at TI-120..... selling for $545 each.
They apear to be one piece and the offset is a couple inch less than an OE A3 wheel. I would like them on my front if they are that wheel. Also, there is another military rim with less offset, but I think it has a ring...
So you have a winch on an m925 which includes a pto, shaft and pump to transfer to the 923 and you bob the frame in the back, not getting into the drive, cutting off the excess and moving the pintle frame with diagonals, forward. That keeps your behind cab space from growing too much.
Looks like you just need a driveshaft and pto and some linkage. I had some pto's...but all gone. Go for new seals where possible. Does it have the bed lock down like the 929?
Good find on the bed....they are not too common. Myself, I'd use a nice 931, maybe an A1 version and especially one...
I think they are a custom wheel. Aren't they a one piece wheel? I've seen vendors (I think) here selling them... not cheap. It also looks like 15.5 tires. If one piece, they may not have beadlock so don't air them down too far.
Unless the breaker has a functional defect, like won't close or open both poles, I would not take it out. I'm an electrician ....but not experienced on this generator, so can't give much help.
If you use one of the budd rims, the center of your tire is not centered with the bearings with dish out. The narrow stance looks odd and would not seem very stable.
My suggestion is to run the 11.00 as duals, not singles.
I like with 11.00 duals rear and the A3 wheel with 14.5 steer. Are all of your tres G177? Fronts are but can't make out rear.
You are not far from a couple tire sources. Put a wanted ad on SS up but watch out for scammers.
