Very nice! I still like the original design the best. I thought the blacked out rad. area looked cool. If you would have just posted that for sale you would have sold the lot and saved yourself some time.
I think he is on to something here. I agree about not welding a bunch on the frame but it is a vertical weld on the frame that usually causes trouble. I think that some small welds like he has and a bolted gusset plate will work well. The torque rod mount is a good idea that I am trying to...
I have always treated aluminum with zink oxide primer before painting. I will admit that it has been years but it always worked great on the old aluminum bread vans.
Mike and Srg. Birkinholtz at camp Dodge in Iowa are the only reason I still do business with GL. The process to get your stuff sucks. Then you get to go look at all the toys and deal with good people on your recovery. A big thank you to those guys.
So I haven't been using that deuce much lately, getting ready for harvest. I took it for a fresh tank of diesel and the start problem is clearing up on its own. What kind of crud fuel would the deuce have trouble burning? I filled up in Debuke IA. on the way back from sparta.
My lift pump works, It was one of the first things I checked. I am at a bit of a loss as to how lift pumps became such a big part of this thread. I appreciate the advice on checking for drain back. I did not see anything leaking when I adjusted the valves but I will check this over really...
I used the in tank pump to prime the filter housings when I changed the filters, It worked fine. Thanks for the gauge idea, any guess on how much pressure there should be?
I have had my deuce for about 5 months. It has always started instantly when you push the button. After a recent road trip I noticed it getting harder to start. I checked the valve adjustment, a few were loose so I reset them. I checked the fuel shut down by pulling the cover on the side of...
The big issue is that the weight of the driven wheels is shared by the tandem wheels. I removed my rear drive shaft for a 500 mile trip this summer. I did not have a load on the way out and just a lube trailer on the way back. When I would hit a large bump, and believe me there were plenty on...
I have a few mounted tires from when I singled out my deuce. I rolled one up on the bathroom scale. 176 lbs. No wonder my back hurts when I load these in the back of the pickup.
