    8/5/08 Deuce Recovery Camp Dodge

I recovered my deuce from Camp Dodge today. They have fixed their security problems from this spring! I got there at 11 and was on the road by 12. Truck started and ran great. I have a mystery fluid on passenger front tire. I suspect wheel cylinder. They put padlocks on the tool box so I...

    Deuce at Camp Dodge

I picked up truck #7541 today and big surprise it was parked next to #7540. I did a quick walk around on 7540. Tires all decent, spare brand new. The lights were all still there. I turned on the big switch and the batteries were looking good on the meter. The buzzer worked fine. I did not...

Started the Lube and Servicing Unit today

There was already a coating but it was thin and there was light rust in the bottom of the tanks. The engine kick down works great on mine, I really have not spent a lot of time messing with it because it has not given me any problems. There is a mixture adjustment T on the back side of the...

Started the Lube and Servicing Unit today

I have been working on my trailer for about a month now. It started right up but then gave me float problems. I still have not found a solution to that problem that I like. Right now I am running the carb dry to shut off the engine. The rest of the project has gone well so far. Here are some...

Splicing a fuel line in an emergency

I think that there is just regular plumbing flare fittings on those lines. Go buy a flaring tool and some new copper line and make up a new one yourself. You can buy a tubing bender or just be careful and hand bend it. Look and see if you can route the line in a safer location.

Started the Lube and Servicing Unit today

Here are some pictures of my float after I dipped it in epoxy. I had to bend the metal tab as the float is a little heavier now. I have no idea how this will work long term but it is working good now. The epoxy is sherman williams epoxy paint that I am going to put in the tanks after I...

Started the Lube and Servicing Unit today

The float is a doughnut shaped thing. I have not found a similar one in a bike or 4-wheeler but I am going to check lawnmower parts for a plastic one.

Started the Lube and Servicing Unit today

If you are using pump gas you might consider turning the fuel off and running the carb dry when unit is going to sit. The carb float is foam and it WILL swell up and stick if there is ethanol in the fuel. I am already on my second carb on my trailer. I am going to coat the float with epoxy...

Lightning strikes twice!! Another starter mystrer

I had a similar problem with a 460 ford. I built a cheap and dirty heat shield out of aluminum for it and had no more problems. The starter body, not the solenoid needed the precision tap on the ford. I may have grounded the starter better with the bolt and hose clamp secured shield. Anyway it...

    AIR-O-Matic Kit Installation Help

My shock fit fine, if your bolt on end of the shock is to big you may not need the bushing. I also fought the rubber bushing for power cylinder. I ended up trimming about 3/16 off both bushings with a new pair of tin snips. I sure someone will tell me that was wrong. I also noticed that the...

    Air-o-matic install

Sorry FMJ That was a new drag link so it is going into the spare parts, keep pile. There is a regulator on the inside frame rail that I have adjusted to max pressure. I could probably shim it to boost the pressure a little but I think I would end up ruining something.

    Air-o-matic install

More Air o Matic Here are the actual install photos. I had to take the new drag link off and adjust it for length. This was the only part of the install I had to do twice. The rubber grommets where the air lines go through the inner fender are a joke. I will have to replace them with a...

    Air-o-matic install

I installed one of the air o matic kits from BrianrBull this weekend. It took me about 7 hours. It could be done faster if you wanted to do some of it again later. I took a bunch of pictures, and here they are. This first batch is just the deuce with the wheels off. There is also a picture...

    Quick question about OD Iron

I ordered some stuff last month off the web site and got it in less than a week. It was a filter kit for m-35 arrived in to batches, air filter drop shipped from somewhere else. I was happy with the service. Corn

    Camp Dodge Deuce/Genset recovery done!

Picking mine up next friday I bought the desert paint deuce with no cover in the same lot as yours. I am going next friday to pick it up. What did you do about a travel permit? I have checked the iowa dmv site for trip permits and could only find them for oversize overweight stuff. I like...
