Wow, good save. I thought you would have to remove the whole mess and start over. I did not even see the original bumper inside that cluster.

    frozen brake connectors - HELP!

One of the farm web sites I an on has invented a new rust breaker they call haggenbrew. Mix one part ATF with one part acetone. There are about a dozen theories on how this works but it sure works. I would put it into the don't knock it until you try it category.

Question about a 13 speed Fuller in M818....

The 5ton transmission air control only shifts the sprag when you go to reverse. All other gears and neutral have the sprag in the forward position. I would consider an air solenoid valve controlled by the reverse light switch.

    Doh! moment

That is no fun. Even less fun is pulling the hand throttle instead of the fuel shut off when you get home after dark. I always throw the master switch and then shut off the engine. Pull the wrong lever and instant panic.

Air leak from tank near strap

Keep in mind that the first tank gets almost all of the water. Next time you drain tanks do one then the other. The difference will amaze you. Always better safe than sorry, but if you are changing for a used tank from a parted out truck the non leaker you have might be in better shape.

5 ton back up light install

I put a back up light on the 817 today. I removed the 90 deg. fitting from the reverse sprag air line. I replaced it with a t from an air compressor. I then put a straight 1/4 by 3/8 compression fitting in one end. I installed a SL-4, Bendix #228600, air brake switch in the other end. I...

    WMO filtering idea

I dilute my waste oil with gas or diesel before filtering. It goes through the filters much easier. You can even gravity filter.

    Soon to be broke!

You may want to check the bolts in the drive shaft between the trans. and transfer case. They always come loose and cause trouble. I check mine before any trip over 30 miles.

My Pa wants a Russian WIG!

Look up hovercraft. There are some US built ones with short wings now. They fly at about 0-15 ft. Kind of cool if you have about 10-20 large to use for toy money.

    What the...........?

2 long weekends in the shop could make a good truck out of that. I think you could find some fool to buy about 3/4 of the junk you pulled off. If I were a little closer I would buy that in a heartbeat. I would not leave home for the recovery until I had 2 gallons of OD semi gloss in my hands.
