Any way to mount the valve so you could reach it through the brake reservoir cover in the floorboard?
On another note, is there an official checklist to run through before attempting to ford? Would love to make a placard for that.
How about running tubing from it up into the cab, mounting the ballvalve to the floor somewhere and venting out and back down out of the rear of the cab?
You know, if you had an air solenoid bleeding through just a little, that might be enough to keep it from fully disengaging. It would be interesting to disconnect the air from the x-fer case, plug the line so you still have brakes, and drive around to see if you still have the problem.
So it only happens when it's disengaged- not when you're in 6x6?
If so, that's DEFINITELY a case of it not fully disengaging when out of 6x6. If it were the drive flange bolts you'd hear it all the time IMO.

I thought maybe some of you guys would like to see the completed installation. Here are two pics.
I painted the cap bolts black and plan to paint the pointers where it locks and unlocks either red or silver so I can see it better (gettin' old and cain't see no more).
I have driven it locked and...
I start off in 1st from a standstill, 2nd if I'm still rolling.
Tire spin is EXACTLY what that was.
I don't have a clutch problem- either mechanically or "riding" it, so that eliminated one possibility.
One advantage no one seems to mention about locking out the center axle is the smoother...
More of a patch of ice
It's more like I pushed the clutch pedal in just enough to disengage a little and then a surge of power. I was accelerating at the time. No clunk or jerk at all.
I installed the half-axle and a lockout hub on the center axle on the driver's side. Now on occasion it feels like the clutch slips and re-engages when turning sharply right (only right). Anyone else have this happen
I was well on my way to changing the primary fuel filter when I noticed it has the same canister installed as the secondaries. Is this a fairly common field mod? It makes sense to me from a logistics standpoint 'cause you only need the one type of fuel filter.
BTW, I went to drain fuel out of it...
As cheap as cameras are these days, it wouldn't take much to install a dash cam. Food for thought for sure!
Have to take it with you when you park the Beast though...
Think I'll do it! Might be fun!

The original thought
I was going this route because I couldn't find any- wood or fiberglass!
Do you have a source because quite frankly, I'd just as soon buy them (not real fond of sanding).
