After the ice storm cave-in on Tinkerbell, I decided to rebuild my bows. The uprights are no problem. The curved bows seemed daunting until I remembered laminating some curved pieces for my Bellanca fuel tank covers.
All you need is some really good waterproof glue like Elmer's woodworking...
Many thanks Gimpyrobb and Warthog. At least there's some hope that it's not FUBAR, but lately things have been breaking left and right on "Tinkerbell".
So, I'm pulling into the Super Safe Storage when the compressor starts cycling on and off rapidly. I wait 5 min. shut down, drain the air tanks (something's leaking air BEFORE I open the valves!) and black oil comes out with the air.
My best guess is that's compressor oil and I'm screwed- scored...
Not snow, but some ice down heah in the South. Damage caused by a bad bow and a load of ice on top of the cargo tarp.
I consider myself lucky- the jagged piece of wood didn't rip through the tarp. It slid between the rear flap and the side!
I guess this is a good time to start replacing...
The M35A2s posted online somewhere in the universe says they're in Louisiana. So... what are the odds these have been immersed in salt water from Hurricane Katrina? The winch cables are pretty durn rusty...
Finally got the 2009 Veteran's Day Parade pics downloaded.
If interested, they are here:

I forgot to drain my air tanks once after driving. For some odd reason the inboard tank had pressure but not the outboard when I drained them the next morning. When I shut down, the OUTBOARD tank always has pressure, but not the inboard- just backwards from what happened when I forgot.
The only...
Will I need to pull the tranny or can I do this from inside the cab?
I'm sorry for the dumb questions, but it sure helps to know what I'm getting into.
Thank you again for the great information!
OK here's the deal.
I squirmed up under the Deuce with my trusty grease gun, gloves and a rag. Starting at the rear drive shaft, I gave it a good shake. It has a little play in it when you twist it, but no up and down play. Next was the shaft between the x-fer case and the middle axle. Same...
Did it
I did as you suggested and it popped out somewhat. Looks like one corner is creased though and the center reinforcement cross beam is now a good inch away from the underside of the hood. When I tried to whang the beam back into place, the hood popped back into dent mode.
Gonna...
It looks like someone was climbing on my M35A2 hood over at the Super Safe Self Storage and mashed in the hood. It's one large area right in the middle that's sunk in.
Not being much of a body guy, is there a good way to try popping this back out?
I thought about ramming it with a 4x4 chunk of...
I'm guessing the vibration I'm having (it goes from noticeable to teeth-chattering) is one or more U-Joints. Never having worked on ANY 4 or 6 wheel drive vehicles, I could use some advice for diagnosis and replacement.
TIA,
Moving the event would sure disappoint several Huntsville MV owners- myself included!
I see it as a chance to educate the city council about owning and collecting military vehicles and how it can bring in revenue to the city.
I plan on personally inviting as many of the city council as possible...
It's OK
There should be no problem. This was over a residential area zoning ordinance. We have RV shows and even Big Rig shows in HSV all the time.
Now if you were holding it at my house, I'd worry! ;-)
