The silver canister is the fuel pump for the fuel fired heater in the rear of my M1010. The blue/red wire provides 24v to the fuel pump.
The finned device is my Sure Power 52210 battery equalizer. It provides 100amp of 12v power from the 24v system in the M1010. The M1010 has two 24v alts and...
A "t" should work in theory in either location. However, if you have a temp gauge installed you really don't need the temp dummy light. Personal preference will decide how you proceed. I would (and have) install(ed) the gauge and leave the dummy light disconnected.
Very true! Good to hear!
Not sure if OP meant passenger or driver side, I was going by the color code of wires and general location he mentioned.
The sensor with yellow and black wires is definitely the temp sensor for the glow plug circuit and fast idle/cold advance. Personally, I would not T off this location.
The...
The sensor you t-ed is not for the dummy light. It is for the glow plug controller. At least you put a "T" in so the glow plug module can still function as intended. However, I am not sure how accurate the reading may be with the "T" installed.
The sensor on the driver side front of the head...
I would think any good diesel shop that works on injectors, pumps, and turbos could do the job. I know Accurate Diesel in Orlando can, not sure about a shop in your area. I posted a copy of their business card in another thread if you want to contact them.
What are you trying to accomplish?
Only one switch is needed to kill power to the electrical system. Switch between ground and the front battery NEG terminal. Read my first post in this thread.
Chassis ground and main bus bar ground to one side of the switch and front battery NEG to the other.
I recovered a M1009 at Redstone a few years back and the glow plug system had failed.
I tried Wd40 and silicone spray per some suggestions I read online, neither worked. However, with a quick spray of ether; it fired right up.
Water manifold hoses on the top of the engine are 1 5/8 diameter not 1.75
The believe the suggested LENGTH is 1.75". Anything longer and it is a PITA to reinstall the manifolds.
I just did all the hoses on a M109 over this past weekend. Napa sells belted hose by the foot in 2" and 1 5/8"...
The spanner wrench sounds fancy...I used a long pry bar on the back side of the pump in between the injection outlets.
Just give me a call or send me a message when/if you want to come up.
Best bet would be to scan for codes. Most parts stores will scan for free.
If no codes, then maybe bad injectors, fuel filter, lift pump, timing, or ? Could be numerous things.
