M989A1 Trailer, Ft Drum Loading Questions

Won a M989A1 trailer up at Drum today. Question about the loading, since these are air brake trailers, I assume they forklift these into place on the trailer for shipment? Thanks!

Filling the HD740 in the HEMTT

Guys, I'm going nuts trying to figure out where to put the fluid back into the transmission on the HEMMT, the -12 and -34s refer to the drain point, but not the fill! I assume it goes back in through the level check tube, but that seems very, very slow. Is there another fill port? Thanks!

The HEMTT is on the way!

Well, after the 7 week or so wait on the EUC to clear, and a few weeks to arrange transport, the M977 is on it's way north from Texas. Scheduled to arrive on Friday morning. They had issues getting it jumped this morning on the load out, and after the 10 weeks or so, two tires were low. The...

    HEMTT Fluid/Filters

Well, the HEMTT will be shipping shortly, so I'm getting a jump on the PM, 10 gallons of SAE 40 from Tractor Supply for the Detroit, 10 gallons of TES-295 Fluid off the web, and new batteries should get me started. The filters are throwing me for a loop though, seems the canister style filters...

Shipping Rates for HEMTT per Loaded Mile

Getting quotes in the $2.60 range, does that seem fair these days?

Atomic Annie and Two Prime Movers

I was out at Sandia National Labs for work today, and finally decided to stop by the National Museum of Nuclear Science & History. Thought a few of the pictures might be interesting to the group. They have a fairly good condition M65 Atomic Cannon on display out in the yard. I took a number of...

923 Makes a Trip to the Gun Show with cool Thermal Images

So I took the 923 on it's first long trip down to the Nation's Gun Show in Dulles. Left way early to get in line and be able to take my time in her, as traffic around here is replete with crazy people, so right lane the whole time, running around 50 MPH in 55 MPH zones. The truck did very...

New 923A2 - Back in the Game!

So my 923A2 arrived yesterday from Delaware. So far so good, she cranks over and starts right away, runs well, batteries are good, tires are decent, just needs some paint. Looks like the entire braking system had been gone through and most of it replace not long ago. Oil looks nearly brand new...

    Shipping a 923A2

Won a bid for a 932A2 this last week, it's only 136 miles from me, in running condition, at least around the yard. I've been out of the game for awhile, drove my last 3 trucks from a longer distance, but I'm less adventurous than in the past and think I might want to have it trucked down. Who...

    M37 barn find

Guys, I looked at a M37 today that's sitting outside behind a barn. Looks like a typical M37 with winch. The engine turns over and was running before it moved to it's current position. Engine looks good externally and appears all original. Drive train in good shape, frame in good shape. The cab...

    They're both gone :-(

Well, I had to sell both of my Deuce's only keeping the 5-ton. One went north to Michigan, and the other just left at 1:50 AM headed to South Dakota. I'm sure they will serve their new owners well, but it was sad to see the M109 head away for the last time.

    Land Train???

Ok, I think this ok to post, as it fits the unusual type vehicle for auction. I also don't think any of us are going to be bidding on it given it's size etc. Land Train 1962 : eBay Motors (item 300418438421 end time Apr-23-10 09:58:26 PDT) This might be the most amazing MV I've ever seen.

Prepping the M814 for a long trip

So my wife and I are moving down to VA, near Lovettsville, and the M814 will be making the trip down with us. I've been going through all the standard after winter PMs, greasing the chassis, changing the oil, flush the radiator fluid etc, but I'm wondering what else I might ought to consider...

    It's warm in Ohio!

So this weekend was break out the trucks from winter hibernation. Thursday night after getting back from a business trip I decided that one of them, my M35A2 cargo truck (currently for sale) needed to be taken into work for the Friday car show. Went through everything I could think of Thursday...

    Ifa w-50

Ok, I've read through the forums here, and have been unable to locate any type of service manual for the IFA W-50 truck. There's a very good chance I'm going to end up with one of these, and I want to make sure I have a fair understanding of how the knobs etc work. Anybody highly...

Something to Move a Dozer with

So I'm thinking about buying a dozer early next spring, nothing too large, just something to clear some more of the brush covered land I own. I would love to be able to pull it with or loaded it into the M814. First, did the military make any trailers large enough to handle equipment like...

    Deuce Pulling Halloween Duty

Well, Saturday after serving as our range trip vehicle for a bit of Halloween shooting, we decided to use the Deuce to host Halloween in more or less and pass out candy etc. to the kids in the neighborhood. A few friends dropped by, including one of my wife's employees who's older son has...

Installing Arctic Heater Kit in the M814

First off, no pictures yet guys, I was just working to get it done, and I'll take pictures of the final installation. First off, I was using the standard M35A2 kit to do the work, so various brackets etc didn't function in the 5-ton, but for the most part everything worked with minimal...

    Deuce put to Work

So the new M35A2 was taken down to a friends farm yesterday to move a tractor that had died on them last year. They had tried to pull it out with a pickup, but no luck, so the Deuce was driven over before church and then we came back to their place for lunch and a bit of tractor pulling. :-D...
