Why not go to electric fans ?

An electric fan that could move the air that the engine fan moves would be HUGE, and probably draw 100A of power. I don't think such a beast even exists... After having electric fans on a few vehicles, I can tell you it isn't all it's supposed to be. I don't do that anymore, unless I have...

Talk to me about getting an M1078...

In some places of the country, when it's below freezing and it "precipitates", instead of rain, a form of frozen water called snow falls from the sky and builds up on the ground. If enough builds up, it makes driving normal vehicles difficult, and must be removed from road surfaces. This is...

Talk to me about getting an M1078...

Thanks for the feedback fellas! I'll concede that $4k might be unlikely, at least in the near future, but $6k for a running driving truck has been done many times. I know there are risks with buying any truck from GP, but I'm willing to take those risks at this point. If a good lot of them...

Talk to me about getting an M1078...

Well, it's been 7 years since I sold my 1st (and only) Deuce, as well as the two M1008's that I had back in MI... Wife and I are building a house in Colorado over the next two years, and I've been looking for a sub-26,000gvw / sub-$4000 dump truck. I haven't found anything that isn't going to...

Another way to lower an M1101/M1102

I like what you've done!! FYI, the rail you are talking about drilling up through is steel, not aluminum, and it's pretty thick... I think I'd just drill and tap it for two 1/2" bolts per side and call it good. [emoji4] Y'all have to remember, these trailers are rated to haul their max...

M1101/02 trailers: I need to change the wheels and need the exact size

You can, and the p/n's are in a thread about lowering the trailer IIRC. But backspacing of 6-bolt wheels that will fit over that hub is going to make them stick out farther than 8-lug GM wheels will by an inch or two per side, at least... And hanging tires an inch or two outside an already...

M1101/02 trailers: I need to change the wheels and need the exact size

All gm 8 lug wheels with 8 on 6.5" will fit. Actually, all 8 on 6.5 wheels will bolt up, and clear the hub. But the later gm wheels have backspacing that works better than anything else.

M1101/02 trailers: I need to change the wheels and need the exact size

Oops, you probably meant for your m1009... You're right, the center bore is too small, but the backspacing on the 88-up wheels is also too deep. None of the OE gm 6-lug wheels you see on cl will fit. Conversely, most of the aftermarket wheels will...

M1101/02 trailers: I need to change the wheels and need the exact size

The bore on all 6lug wheels is too small, but they're 6 lug, so they don't work anyway... ??

M1101/02 trailers: I need to change the wheels and need the exact size

They should bolt up but they'll likely stick out farther than the 37's. Most after market wheels have less backspacing than the gm wheels I recommended.

Another way to lower an M1101/M1102

Yup, CL. Got $800 for 4, but only 300 for 2.

Another way to lower an M1101/M1102

Yeah, huck bolts aren't pop rivets. The tool that sets them is hydraulic and very expensive... much easier to trim the bottom. Good luck!

Another way to lower an M1101/M1102

I'll get a few pictures of the latest one. I can tell you that you'll need a plasma cutter to chop aluminum, though a sawzall would work if you're really dedicated. (The aluminum is soft) There are rivets (Huck bolts, actually) holding on the brake lines and cables that you'll need to remove...

Another way to lower an M1101/M1102

Third time is a charm!! I lowered another one today, and it's even better than the first two! (I can do it start to finish in about 5 hours now, by myself.) The other two are lowered 2-1/2", and the second one I did I also slid the axle forward 1/2", which worked out well. (More shock...

Another way to lower an M1101/M1102

There should be a tag on the axle, right in the middle. It says 4300lbs on every trailer I have. If that really is the limit, then it's based on the durometer of rubber in the suspension... Every other part on the axle is the same as axles rated up to 7000lbs... I think realistically, it...

M1101/02 trailers: I need to change the wheels and need the exact size

Wow, that's a nice writeup! :) The tire guy was confused at best. The pattern is 8 on 6-1/2, and though there were different center hub dimensions between GM/Ford/Dodge, they all used the same bolt pattern for a LONG time. (Dodge still does. GM changed the trucks in 2011 but not the...

Another way to lower an M1101/M1102

Huh?? I got rid of the bead locks, and so did contdevelop. ?? I highly recommend it if you're just dragging the thing around as a utility trailer. I sold a set of four for $800, and two for $300, so I just about paid for all three trailers by selling the 37's!! :) I'm now running GM "PYO"...

Another way to lower an M1101/M1102

I think he meant to be, but for what you are asking, he has a point... You may have the wrong trailer. I've pulled mine with my 4.0L Wrangler, and they're just too dang big! (Too wide at least!) Really this trailer is even wider than my full size truck, so it's just too much for my Jeep to...

Another way to lower an M1101/M1102

I just edited the first post to add some pictures of the finished product underneath, and a side shot showing the wheel opening. (I moved the axle forward 1/2" on the second trialer, and I'm doing that on all of them from now on! :)

Another way to lower an M1101/M1102

?? Uh, you guys are killing me. I went to the manual first, and it's CRAP. Normally I'm the first to suggest a person RTFM, but in this case, we need to find the guy who wrote TFM and smack him upside the head. :hammer: (I know we're not suppose to use texting shorthand on SS, but...
