Here are a couple of pictures of my win. I spent an hour on it the other day, converted the bulbs to 12V, put in a couple of missing bolts, tightened others. Tows really nice. There are stickers on it that say it was shipped from Kuwait. It is virtually rust free, other than some spots where the...
I recently made my first GL purchase, an M101A2 trailer. I bid based on pictures and brief description only.
As a 'newbie', I had a few questions soon after winning. I emailed GL, and received replies within a day or two. When I submitted my EUC form via email, it "Came back" because of one...
I have a frame mounted hitch on the Suburban. Just a flat-four trailer light connector. I am guessing I would need a different connector to use the electric trailer brakes? H.
In your opinion, would a 16' dual axle (Electric brakes on both) 7,000 GVWR car trailer be safe for hauling a M1008? Empty weight of trailer is about 1,500 pounds.
Would a K2500 6.5 diesel Suburban be able to safely handle the load without damage to engine or trans? The Suburban is in good...
I had to pull mine up on the trailer with a come-along. It was really difficult until both wheels were onto the ramps. I had to winch one side of the trailer, then the other side "walking" it up the ramps. I grabbed it by the axle, close to either side. I have short straps that loop...
My M101A2 trailer has in the serial number part of the tag a four digit number followed by US ARMY NWOM 9C
1214 US ARMY NWOM 9C
When I apply for the SF97, should I just use 1214 as the number, or include all of the characters in the VIN box? I ask because I don't want to show up at DMV and...
I recovered it today. Nice solid trailer, but the wheels were stuck hard. I dragged it around the lot, and they never broke free in forward. They would slowly turn in reverse. Master cylinder looks like it is full of mud. Of the four bolts that hold the lunette head from the underside, one was...
I just recovered one today. It looked really good in the pictures. I almost decided to bring spare wheels and tools and just tow it home. I brought a car trailer instead, and glad I did. The wheels would not turn at all. I dragged it around the lot, and the wheels would only turn in reverse. The...
Why this question?
Before asking this question I searched for:
M101A2 specifications;
Lunette ring dimensions;
Lunette ring diameter.
None of these search queries turned up any of the information you mentioned. IF I had known to search for "SAE J847" I would have done so. I am a shop...
I just picked mine up today in NJ. I almost went to do the pickup with a spare set of wheels and tools to tow it home. Good thing I brought a car trailer with me! The wheels on the M101A2 were stuck HARD. They would not turn. I dragged it quite a distance, and nothing. I could get them to roll...
Searched for this info, but couldn't find it. I have to bring home a M101A2 trailer. I just bought a pintle hitch for my receiver hitch. At Tractor supply, they had several different types. I bought the less expensive. It says it will handle a 2" to 3" I.D. ring with 1 1/4" to 1 5/8"...

I had a similar issue with my 6.5 diesel. In park, I tried holding the throttle at 1,000 or 1,200 rpm, and it would 'run away' and speed up uncontrollably. It turned out to be a bad injector pump. I don't know how different a 6.2 is.
Even when it is really cold, my volt meter never goes down that low when I start it. It looks like something is drawing a lot of juice.....Is the engine stuck? Check all cable connections. If the engine is not stuck, and all connections are good, batteries charged......time to look at the starter.
Be glad you are ok!
My brother-in-law was rear ended in his 1972 barracuda convertible, a totally rust free, really cherry California car. The rear quarters were bent up, rear pan mashed, lots of damage. The insurance tried to give him "book value" which was around $3,600...where can you by a...
I'd say replace the rear end with a good unit from a M1009....keep it stock. If the rear axle is in good shape, oil is right amount and type, not run dry or driven stupid, it will last a long time. I'll put one in for a nice '47 Knucklehead top end (Cylinders and heads ;-)
I just went through this with two trucks. The batteries would show 12.38 volts on the volt meter, but would turn the truck over really slowly. I knew they were old. I put in new batteries, and man, what a difference! They turn over like lightning! My M1008 was starting with 6 bad glow plugs...
Ohms law is....... Confusing me! Dohh! I was thinking like testing a light bulb...thinking 0 ohms was a good thing. I'll hook them up to a battery just to see what I get.
The truck sure does start really nice now. My Suburban is jealous...it has been resisting starting. The more I work on the...
Having owned several Russian motorcycles (No such thing as quality control) I have been down the "fix or replace a lot of stuff frequently" path. In the end, you end up with a good running reliable vehicle. Sounds like you are there...or really close. It would be a shame to sell it now after all...
