    Purchased a 1943 Ford GPW

I had a lot of swings deciding whether to get a Mutt or the MB GPW type jeep. I really love them both! Good luck on yours and keep us posted.

    Purchased a 1943 Ford GPW

I took the pictures and hope they will help. The spline has more than 5 splines. I also took pictures of the front hub lock outs. These also appear strange to me as they require two levers to be lifted and turned 180 degrees to engage or disengage. Red for engaged and no color for disengaged...

    Purchased a 1943 Ford GPW

I am going out right now and take pictures. I had sort of the same idea as you did that it looked like someone would slip a axle into the female spline to drive another device. Will post the pics so we can definitely determine what kind of PTO set up this is. Thanka loads for the reply.

    Purchased a 1943 Ford GPW

Thank you very much for your post. I really appreciated your comments. I have attached a URL address about the first vehicle I got after joining Steel Soldiers. I do not know if you have seen this thread before or not. But, if not, I hope you enjoy it. I was glad that the moderators did not...

    Purchased a 1943 Ford GPW

The two responses I have gotten so far are exactly what I was looking for when posting my purchase of the 1943 GPW jeep. I have been torn between leaving the V6 in with the upgraded transmission and restoring everything else as a GPW, or getting a WWII L4 and rebuilding it with the correct...

No Title for Truck - What Am I missing?

It is true that in California you have to get the VIN verified on the never registered vehicle. Any California Highway Patrol Office will do this for you for free at any local office. You may have to leave the truck overnight. This is what I did when registering my M35A2C in Bishop. Ask...

    Old Military vehicle locomotion trials

These trains built for the Alcan Alaska venture have always amazed me. The military can come up with some really wild forms of locomotion.

No Title for Truck - What Am I missing?

I registered mine in Calif. with no problems. Registered my M35a2C in Bishop, California on December 2008 without any trouble using the following documents: 1. SF97 From U.S. Govt DRMO to Govt. Liquidation 2. Reassignment of SF97 from Govt. Liquidation to person I bought the truck from (the...

    Old Military vehicle locomotion trials

I thought it would be interesting to see some of the methods tried out for military vehicle locomotion in the past. I like the cylindrical tires by Firestone for the Willys MB to use in jungle terrain during WW2, and the MB / GPW WW2 Jeep halftrack to mention a couple.

    Purchased a 1943 Ford GPW

I just purchased this 1943 Ford GPW. Only surface rust on body and tub. No dents or accidents, bucket has light surface rust only and is solid thru out. Windshield is intact, has original data plates, and a unique PTO shifter for rear of the jeep output. Also civilian tires and rims with the...

SoCal 2014 Summer Rally Camping Southern California San Bernardino mountains Big Bear

Many thanks to Prospector GM and Blendmaster for saving me from myself. I would have probably ended up stuck between two rocks with no one to call had I tried to follow the initial map I pulled up for the trip to Big Bear. Thanks again for the advice...
