MEP-803A has zero compression and lots of soot

There isn't a hard and straight answer I can offer. Based on my personal experience if the load is at least 60-70% for the majority of the run time then its not a problem. If you are running 25-30% most of the time then as you are already doing you need to get it up above 80% long enough to...

MEP-803A has zero compression and lots of soot

Its unfortunate but the direct answer is - yes - running a 10kw machine with ~3kw of load causes this problem. As already stated above you need to get the valves freed up so you have compression then run it with increasing loads until its working as it should. Cross our fingers the rings are...

Mep-802a - amp meter not working.

You need to move the AM/VM knob one more notch clockwise to read 120v single phase. The fist thing to do if your readings are bouncy is to twist the AM/VM knob back and forth till your hand feels like its going to fall off then twist it about 5 more minutes. Soaking it with some good contact...

⁸What causes under voltage error in MEP-805B? Sometimes it runs fine, but ultimately will show this errer and stop generating. Seems to heal itsel

I have a Fluke 87 meter that I bought back in the 80s when I was an electrician. It still works and I've verified its accurate with the Fluke 787. I've had to put 2 displays in it because they wash out over time but it is still kicking!

    MEP 04 B

Keep in mind if you can’t find a way to use the third phase you’ll be limited to under 10kw of output.

⁸What causes under voltage error in MEP-805B? Sometimes it runs fine, but ultimately will show this errer and stop generating. Seems to heal itsel

What experience do you have with power systems? I'm concerned that your response to my question suggests you are just getting started. Poking around in live circuits is certainly hazardous. You may want to reach out to someone experienced in the hands on stuff that can help you get started in...

+1 on spending some time on the wiring. Go wiggle every connection and make sure everything is tight. I've found SOOO many loose connections in sets. That is the kind of stuff that will drive you to drinking if you are chasing symptoms instead of going back to basics and looking for bad connections.

    MEP003 value?

Assuming the unit is complete I offer $500 for a non running set of that vintage.

    "MEP Generators Versus Father Time"

With the number of variables at play here its hard to say for sure. What I can offer from my thoughts is I would rather have a machine with 3000 hours on it that has been run properly and maintained versus one with 300 hours that has been abused. For this discussion I'm ignoring fluids since...

    LPW2/4 12V starter suggestion

Dad was a machinist. When I turned 10 he told me it was time I learned to weld. The 70's were a crazy time. :D He started me on a acetylene torch with a brazing rod. From there it was stick welding with a Lincoln 225 AC machine. I didn't follow in his footsteps to be a machinist but I am very...

803 or 802 that is the question

A MEP802 will run my place no problem. Yea, I have to do some load management but assuming I'm not trying to dry a load of clothes, bake a casserole, and run the AC at the same time, it works fine. We have a 3T heatpump that I've put the heat strips on a separate breaker so if I'm on generator...

    Mep-802a part numbers for panels

Take it slow. Aluminum work hardens really quick and tears. I bought one that had a bashed in top and was able to make it look pretty good with some patience.

    Mep-802a part numbers for panels

You aren't going to find those panels anywhere. Those units are out of production. The link given above is to one of the SS members that is making the panels to order.

New to the group and have a question -803 in the back of a pickup

I don't see why not. I've gotten 803s loaded in the back of the truck at Fayetteville. Just hope they don't stick a fork through the side of it as I watched them do on one of my load outs.
