I saw Warthog last weekend and I'm pretty sure he is planning on it. He has the "master list" so hopefully the invitation has gone out to all. I'm talking with a friend about driving a 2nd truck for me. I also know of 2 others that might be there.
Don't go with the smaller lip wheels. Go with wheels designed to work with the tires. If you want to air down, go with double beadlocks. I ran some 395/8R20 on my jeep with 0 psi (valve cores pulled). You should be able to get recentered HEMTT wheels for about $300 each. New double beadlock...
I could swear somewhere where I have read the medium is rated up to and including 22.5 Ton M911 Hets (unloaded of course and different adapaters required!)
I read somewhere that GL pays the GVT 3.26% of the original acquisition cost for an item. I couldn't find the M915 cost right off, but I know the M915A1 is $57,454. So, $57,454 x 3.26% = $1873.
Wow, sounds like a wild trip! Glad you made it home okay. I wish I would have known of your plans and I could have covered all 4 of those lessons in advance! Maybe I can get in on the next trip.
I found a few torque rods in the shop and thought a comparison picture of the deuce and 5 ton equivalent was worth a post! I put a listing in the classifieds here http://www.steelsoldiers.com/vbclassified.php?do=ad&id=5294
The little wing windows on mine tend to blow back a little in the wind and reduce the air flow in the cab. I keep two little rope bungie cords, maybe 9" to keep the wing windows fully open for max air in the cab. You might add those to your list.
