I'm getting the random sorting of posts too. I've got smilies though.:-P

    Location

I fear change. I don't know if it's related to this, I had another tab open with SS in it. When I reduced that to just one tab open, the required posts went quite smoothly...

    Windshield weather strip question

After about ten minutes of frustration, I actually found a screwdriver that was just worn enough, just sharp enough, just wide enough, and got a technique that worked pretty good. It got quicker each time... Stubborn nature made me install the gasket dry. By the last time I used lube. I...

    VIN number

RE: Re: RE: VIN number If it was a civvy truck you would find A) the last eight of the vin plain and simple, or B) the last eight of the VIN, in a nine digit number. The second through the nineth of the nine digit serial number always match the serial number (10 through 17 of the vin). first...

    Windshield weather strip question

That does help, Thanks. I thought that way made more sense, but man are they tight... Oh well, salting season starts early up here since the flatlanders have taken over. They'll have all winter to settle in.

    Windshield weather strip question

I've managed to find several posts with tips on how to install the weather strip, but I can't seem to find anything here or in the TM that suggests what direction they are installed. I put them in with the "extra lip" facing out, just as the originals were removed. But they seem very very...

    M35A2 Radiator

Very very simple. Four bolts removes the front grille. Two spring loaded bolts at the bottom of the radiator, one bolt removes the top "clevis linkage", two hoses and it's all yours.

    Receiver hitch for a deuce

Question: If the bolt selected for a "standard" application (bolting two stationary pieces together such as the hitches here...) is of a proper size, and properly torqued that would mean that the opposing forces from each side of the joint would never exceed the preload. I'm straining my brain...

    Heater Install

The short story is that you have to use the right holes or you'll bollox the whole thing up. The longer story is on this forum at least several times, but I'm pretty inept with the search engine... You'll either have an inoperative heater in one set of wrong holes, or in another set of wrong...

What type of camo is this?

Any idea what the MERDC stands for?

I got pulled over in my Deuce

Re: RE: Re: RE: Re: I got pulled over in my Deuce This is a question that I'd bet money you could find specifically written law. AFAIK every state has their statutes available online somewhere or other. This issue will be there because the blue light is specifically regulated. Only after...

I got pulled over in my Deuce

Re: RE: Re: RE: Re: I got pulled over in my Deuce In most states that's not going to be possible. Many have the exemption for antique police cars because there IS a law that says you can't impersonate the police. However military police are different. The statutes in question that would be...

    Receiver hitch for a deuce

Yes, on the gooseneck the ball mount sits directly on a frame, but then that "lower frame" does not sit on the truck frame, it bolts to the outside of the truck frame, so the bolts are horizontal. Those are always in shear no matter what you do. But there again, they're bigger. I guess that's...

    Receiver hitch for a deuce

I didn't measure them all, but I'm pretty confident that every bolt we looked at was a half inch bolt. I see a lot of bolts in the course of a day, I'm fairly confident in that. EDIT- The gooseneck hitch does use larger bolts. But the lower frame is good for 20,000 lbs, and the bolts (and the...

    Receiver hitch for a deuce

FWIW: I just barely installed a two inch on a new (to me) F-250. The hitch is rated for 15,000 pounds. (The truck, not quite so much so...) But the 15,000 pound hitch came with grade five bolts. I thought this odd, and discussed it with the fellow for a minute. (He runs a trailer sales...

    Roll over protection?

The cab floor is not sturdy enough to mount the roll cage. It'll tear off completely, or just push through the floor when the truck falls on top of it. For a M35 it needs to be strong enough to have thirteen thousand pounds dropped on it from about eight feet if it's gonna be effective...

    M35A2C troop seat/ side braces

If you're using the troop seats in the upright position (as sideboards), stacking for example firewood into the truck, they ensure that the back of the dropsides don't spread any more than what you can still screw in the tailgate latches. I figured that was their primary goal. They don't do...

    Brakes, all or nothing??

You possibly could have a split braking system. If so I'll take back what I said about loosing all the brakes, you'll loose half of them instead... Look under the truck. Where booster is in front of the master cylinder, all trucks will have. If you find another booster on the other side...

    Starter support bracket

It's a standard Chevy part that often gets pitched over a novice mechanic's shoulder as it seems pointless, and other starters don't have them.... All the 6.2/6.5 engines used them. Dealers dont' stock them any more, but can get them. Wrecking yards have them. The fella that I take starters...
