Has anyone changed out the torque rod bushings in their duece? My truck looks like its going to need a t least 8 of them. Looks like a PITA. It should be something everybody goes out and checks for safetys sake. I have seen a 5 ton with rotted out torque rod bushings where the rear axle fell out...
That nut might be a safety nut that the rod bottoms out into at its premeasured depth to prevent turning up the fuel anymore. I would try taking the safety nut off first the do your adjustment and replace the safety nut with a regular nut. Hopefully that makes sense.
In my experiences with the dueces I've had. A stock C turbo with no load puts out about 6 lbs, and a D is about 7 lbs. I think that is the max boost at that fuel setting where you dont have to ever worry about EGT's. I usually dont let mine get above 1200 degrees at 15 psi boost, (no load)...
OK, I swapped my D turbo out yesterday for a C turbo but didnt do a test drive until just now and the butt dyno results are in. The D spools up quicker and gives the truck a better power band. There is a definate difference in power but nothing drastic. With my D turbo I was getting 15 lbs of...
There is no need to pull the fender. I just swapped out a turbo today and it took 2hrs between watching my 2 1/2 year old. When I installed my pyro, I completely took out the air filter canister assembly, unbolted the turbo and dropped it down 1/2 an inch, placed some sheet metal over the turbo...
My SF 97 form from GL said unk year, unk manufacturer so it was a big guessing game for me. My data plate has REO scribed into it and my vin is 0525-17592. I registered it as a 55 REO in hopes it would make it an easier decision for the DMV folks to issue historical vehicle plates. Still havent...
Personally, I think alot of people selling their trucks expect more than they are really worth. Probably has something to do with the surplus equipment companys charging an arm and a leg. The best way to get real world value is to watch them on Ebay and see what they sell for based on equipment...
Youre right, I must have been laying sideways looking under the truck thinking the top dogbones were side to side not front to back, I was going off of memory, sorry to have doubted you.
I drove around with my bed off for a while and you could see the axles moving side to side when going over bumps then they would re center. There are rods to control the side to side movement of the rear axles that have replaceable rubber bushings. I think they need some slop to flex when going...
RE: Re: trip
Area52, Did you ever get that duece from Port Hueneme or did that deal fall through? We should all meet up at one place when Bjorn gets into So Cal so he does'nt have to drive all over the place. Somewhere to accomodate a bunch of dueces.
RE: T case
I fixed it a while ago. One of the set screws came loose and it was allowing 4 lo on the front wheels and 4 hi on the rears. Easy fix with no damage done.
Thanks again guys.
I have one from harbor freight and it looks exactly the same but without red paint. Works great for duece lug nuts. Its meant to have a 1/2" air hose but I just have the 3/8" which supplies just enough air to pop off the nuts. It definately is better than doing it manually especially for only...
I just bought a tow dolly to tow my car with the motor home. I used it once and am going to sell it. They are a pain in the butt! Get the tow bar. Backing up with a tow dolly is just about impossible especially if it has a swiveling deck.
