I am always down in San Diego every few weeks to visit family. I dont think I could ever talk the wife into driving down in the duece with a carseat in between us. She doesnt even like looking at the duece let alone riding in it. I would be in for a guys trip though.
Doesn't look like I'm going to be making it. I've only got 2 days off that week and its too far for an overnighter especially with it being Easter Sunday. Your more than welcome to use my M105 trailer to save on trailer rental fees. I dont have bows or a top for it though. I dont need anything...
Looks like you got a good deal on it! Congrats. I know on my experiences with 6.2's and 6.5's, they really need the glowplugs to cycle before they want to start.
I would think that you would have enough power with the pump turned up a bit. 65 should be easy with those size tires. I can get to about 62 on my duece with 11-20's and the pump turned up but that is really pushing it on RPM not to mention its kinda scary without any roll over protection.
I had a hard starting problem when I first got my current duece. I tightened up the fuel return lines (the plastic ones )on the injectors and it fixed the problem. It was sucking air into the lines after it was shut down. Now it just takes a 1 second bump of the start button versus the 5 seconds...
Hey fellas, I couldnt figure out where to post this because the wanted classifieds is locked. I am looking for a broken rear axle shaft only for the flange to use for a cover when removing my regular rear axle shaft. Or a stripped out front hub would work too. Anybody have any they would like to...
Where is this place at? I would possibly like to check it out. Sounds like a good price for wheels and tires. AV truck and equipment in Lancaster has NOS windshields. They matched a competitors price at $125 each. Do you already have the windshield frame? If so what about just replacing the glass.
Regargdless of how much porting is done on the exhaust, you still have the choke point of the turbo. If is was a gasser engine that turned very high rpm's and didnt have a turbo, I'm sure it might be worth the trouble to smooth out the flow. Your not going to notice anything on the butt dyno in...
A turbo will increase your mpg. At least it did after I turbo charged a N/A 1986 v.w. jetta. Bumped up the mpg by about 4-5mpg, not to mention the added power.
That was without increasing the fuel rate.
Before you are allowed on the base they make sure you have current registration, insurance and drivers license. They are very strict about that and wont let you on. Once on base its a matter of hooking up and leaving after getting your paper work from GL of course. I have never been stopped...
I wish I had the property to store everything I want. Acreage in southern California is'nt cheap or easy to come by for us blue collar folks. $700k will get you a 2500 sq ft house on a 4000 sq ft lot 10 feet from your neighbor. Or you could move up to the high desert with all the dirt bags being...
Thanks for holding out. I would say they all went for a great prices! It always helps when there are a bunch of one thing at the same place on the same auction, keeps the prices down.
I'm sure it can be done. Some issues are that the differential on the front is on the opposite side for 5 tons. Secondly , the square housing on the axle is much larger on the 5 ton as well as the leaf springs are much wider. You would have to make your own adapters for mounting the 5 ton axles...
