I tow my 14' trailer with my Mighty Mite on it with no problems. The M1009 seems to handle it quite well. I've done over 2500 miles with the trailer. I also towed an M101 2600 miles with a Haflinger and some other stuff in it. Still no problems. However, when towing a trailer, don't expect...
The biggest issue with towing a 3/4 ton trailer on an M1009 is the bumper. It's not strong enough to handle a heavy load. I think that's why it is recommended that you only pull an M416. However, if anyone wants photos of how to swap an M1008 bumper to an M1009, send me a pm.
RE: RALLY FOR N.J.???? TRI STATE AREA?
Joe,
I've run many trail rides through the Pines. Even got hassled by the rangers every time we went. Make sure you are registered and insured. Check with Mark from Pemberton. He runs rides through there all the time and knows the trails very well...
Randy,
You? Mature? Come on...who are you trying to kid?
If I can sell some stuff I may take the plane ride to NJ. I've got my car parked in Wall Twp and will have wheels to get me to the show. The MTA always puts on a great event!
I have a German Winch trailer for sale. It was used by the US Army to tow targets across the range at Ft. Drum. When I say German, it's all metric nuts & bolts. Unimog rims will fit it. I sanded it and repainted it a few years ago with Aervoe...big mistake. It's completely open inside...

chuck500cc:
What kind of pictures do you want? A freeze plug without a plug in it? A picture of the freeze plug stuck inside the block? Or a picture of me spooning with the CUCV?
RE: Re: RE: Freeze plug went into the block
Haven't you guys read the previous posts? I got it removed. Thanks for the tips however. Now I can see how well my block heater works.
Bruce,
I sold the Mog in August, got a Mighty Mite and am back living in Nevada. I plan on attending the East Coast Convoy and the Aberdeen show. I'll probably see you there.
I'm looking for a CJ5 hard top to fit my M38A1. Well, actually, I want to modify it to fit my Mighty Mite. I have an Arctic top for my M38A1 but I don't want to hack that up. I would even take a half cab. Doors are not needed but I wouldn't mind having a pair for the M38A1.
Thanks!
RE: Re: RE: Freeze plug went into the block
I wouldn't want to use air either. Better to have it accessible than stuck somewhere else.
UPDATE: I just got it out. It was in a position that can only be described as having to find a G spot on a woman. Since I have practice in this, it took...
RE: Re: Freeze plug went into the block
Mike,
It's on the driver side, second from the rear. I can feel it with my fingers but can't seem to get it to the hole. I tried a magnet but it's pretty tight in there.
