Do the doghead mod.
Could be weak batteries.
Could be starter dying.
Could be the old relay not passing enough current to properly engage starter.
Regarding sticking, did you have a runaway starter motor?
The engine and transmission mate together. The engine applies rotational torque to the transmission which passes it on to the drive-shaft (ultimately).
The engine and transmission should mate solidly. There should be no rotational play in the mating.
If the transmission mounting bolt holes...
Just looking at the still pictures I do not see anything wrong with the glow plug relay. It looks like it has had the 12V conversion and is getting power from the 12V bus.
I would be interested in knowing what is connected to that black relay mounted on fuel filter bracket.
Just remember that when it comes to vehicles there is nothing money cannot fix. :)
Whether or not one has enough money to fix everything is another issue altogether. :(
Download the TMs and follow them.
Diesel needs fuel, oxygen and compression to run. What's missing?
Is there any smoke from the exhaust when cranking? If so what color?
Stock 24v glow plug system or converted to 12V?
What resistance readings do you get on each glow plug?
When I picked up my M1009 the vent window rubber on the drivers side was all new. The window was hard to roll up and would pop out to the outside so I had pull in on the top of the glass when raising the window to keep it in the track.
I replaced the felt track liners as they needed it. I put...
The bar has a much larger cross-sectional area than the wires.
Your cross-sectional area is limited by the wires and the contact points of the terminals not the bar itself.
All electrical power panels are made of bars ....... think of an 800A service panel that has several 200A power panels...
You can find antenna mounts on ebay. Last I looked someone had them new in the box (a bit pricey but new). The guards are what are hard to find. When you find them, buy them. If you do not use them someone on here will want them.
When was the motor rebuilt?
They do look bearing like, is it possible they could be from a previous failure? Caught in a crook or cranny somewhere and migrated to the bottom of the pan after a rebuild?
The should produce power running in either direction assuming the RPMs are in the range the designers intended. Could be issues with nuts and cooling fans that are designed for only one direction of rotation.
I'm too slow ......
If you had 12V on the wire but no power to the GP (the plugs themselves I assume) then there is an issue with the relay.
Either the relay is bad and not passing power from the wire (input to the relay I assume) or the controller is bad not energizing the relay.
Time to get the TMs and...
