The low oil pressure cutout switch is set at 14-15 lbs.
What does the manual say:
From TM 5-6115-584-12 MEP-002A Maintenance Manual - Change 6 - Page 2-3 :
Same manual page 2-5
Same manual table 3-2
Same manual page 4-37
Just an FYI. In a fully functioning stock system you will measure a full 24V at that glow plug relay when it is not energized. The resistor will only drop the voltage when current is flowing through it to the glow plugs.
If the glow plug relay is energized and you are reading 24V at the glow...
What does the TM say?
From TM 9-2320-289-20 Unit Maintenance Manual CUCV:
I would replace them with new ones and keep the old ones as emergency spares.
As I understand it if you are doing automatic transfer and automatic generator start then the generator has to be sized for the full load or if not sized for the the full load you must to have automatic load shedding.
If the transfer is manual then you can undersize your generator and do manual...
You can download the manuals in the resources section at the top of the page.
You really need to change all of the terminals and glow plugs at the same time.
The bypass switch just activates the glow plug relay so 10A to 20A will be fine. Make sure it is a momentary switch.
Conductive grease...
And if it is 12V then you can use the positive and negative bus to power an inverter. I highly recommend either a fusible link or a fuse between the bus and your inverter.
White smoke = unburnt fuel
Black smoke = lack of air
As I understand the diesel they need air. Basically the air flow is always wide open (or should be) and the throttle controls the amount of fuel injected (unlike a gas engine where the throttle controls the air flow).
You checked the...
White smoke could be steam but is typically un-combusted (is that a word) fuel.
Black smoke is typically not enough air.
Compression tests on each cylinder?
Valve not fully seating preventing full compression and consequently combustion?
Are you losing coolant without any visible leaks?
So the doghead relay is switching 12V to the 12V starter solenoid.
Check the grounds and all the wires at the terminals. Wires and connections can be corroded and measure okay with a meter but when a large amount of current starts to flow (like to turn a starter motor) those high resistance...
A key switch in the run position without the engine running can damage the glow plugs in stock systems or cause the glow plugs to drain the battery in 12V fed systems (assuming the engine is cold and controller card is functioning properly).
If your glow plug controller was eliminated from the...
