The Gen 1 light needs a ground connection (through the alternator) to allow current to flow.
Do you have voltage on one side of the gen 1 light?
If so then you need a ground on the other site to get current to flow.

I cannot directly answer your question.
However other than the 24V glow plug / starting system it is just a stripped down mid-eighties GM blazer with a diesel engine and a TH400 transmission.
A good GM diesel mechanic for the engine (give him pages from the manuals that explain/deal with the...
Just what cpf240 said. If your wiring and connections are bad they drop voltage along the way meaning the starter does not see the full voltage it is supposed to see causing higher current flow (more heat than the starter was designed for and higher current than the contacts were designed to...
...... so there is a good possibility that glow plug wire is now open and will not power that glow plug.
Sounds like something happened that allowed a short circuit from that glow plug lead to the chassis/block causing the fusible link to open.
LOL I love people like your mechanic. If the guy knows nothing about diesels (and admits it) why would you trust his assessment of your diesel?
If your return valve is clogged and that valve sits after the IP the most likely source of clogging contaminates is from the IP itself. Others more...
A battery can go bad in just a few minutes from one good start to a no start.
You may have short in the wiring or the short may be internal to a battery.
Checking them again is rather simple. If you have two in parallel remove one to see what happens. If the truck acts the same swap...
Do either of these site show anything that matches?
RF Connectors / test equipment connectors from WA1MBA
Comtelco Portable Antenna Connector Identification and Application Page
The manuals are here:

So the antenna has external threads? Like a bolt and it threads into the socket that has a male pin? What is the diameter of that antenna connector? I would like to think it is a standard type.
SMA Connector?

The bottom of the GP relay (large stud) is 12v because the combination of the glow plugs and resistor creates a voltage divider but only when the glow plugs are heating.
There should be no voltage on the glow plug side of the relay (large stud) once the engine warms and controller stops...
Which connector in your picture?
They should be standard connectors that you buy at any number of places.
Mouser Electronics - Electronic Component Distributor
RF Cable Connectors - Custom RF Cable Assemblies - Lighthorse Technologies Inc.
There is a 12v diamond shaped bus next to the glow plug relay. There should be a wire from the negative of the back battery to this bus.
The red wire with the arrow is the 12V feed from the battery. The blue part is the fusible link. One or more or those other wires go down to the fuse...
The lamp should come on as voltage is supplied to the alternator rotor windings via that lamp when the ignition key is placed in the run position. Once the alternator starts turning and develops it's own rotor voltage the equalization of voltage on either side of the lamp causes the current to...
Rapid relay cycling is different from 'chatter'.
Chatter is a buzzing or vibrating effect. Chatter is usually caused by low voltage.
The voltage level is such that the strength of the magnetic field developed by the coil is just about equal to the strength of the spring that counteracts the...
