Shorty muffler from Walker/Dynomax
Ok, after some prompting, I'll post a few shots of an alternate muffler... Walker/Dynomax P/N 17224, 6" round x 21" overall length.
This muffler just fits between the fender and the upper exhaust braket/clamp. I cut the J-pipe so it just cleared the...
I should have clarified... I posted a while ago because I thought the trans shifted hard. Turns out it's just the R-1 gate, and if you pull the lever slightly toward you, it's OK, just a longer throw.
There is no need for double clutching, the trans shifts all gears nicely, or nice...
I drove my deuce 300 miles from southern MI to the eastern UP for the 4th of July... It really wasn't a big deal for the most part, but I can tell you that I have no immediate desire to drive it back down in August. :)
My new issue is that the trans seems to not really like to stay in 5th...
Looking good Chuck!! If you don't mind my asking, whatcha usin for paint?? I still need to figure out how much to order, and Gillespie colors seem like the best thing going. I'm waiting to see the condition of my 1008 and 1009 before I order so I can get it all at once. Gotta get enough...
Big assumption, hopefully the IP in a 6.5L is roughly the same... I had a similar issue that turned out to be a failed solenoid. Pull the connector off the fuel shutoff solonoid (tall, round thing on the top of the pump) and check resistance. Mine was burned out, and hence was open circuit...
Found ONE of these in a junkyard in northern MI. I checked every other deuce in there, and this is the only one... Not sure what's up with the double pattern. (12 holes)

I guess my note about GL policy was not taken exactly as I meant it... I was trying to point out that if they have the site working as they want it, it's costing them profit... I'm pretty sure it is now less user friendly, and they are getting less business and lower prices as a result...
Hahaha!!! Chuck, I bid on that one too. You're probably the one that took it from me!! That's OK, I got an almost complete one. And a pickup, and a blazer to tow it with. :)
Hopefully it's all from out west or somthing... Minimal rust in most of the pics...
I think your trailer is...
At least on the vehicles I acquired yesterday, it would seem that the new GL policy is actually lowering prices on the majority of stuff. (A3 Deuces aside...)
If the issues you all speak of are truely on purpose, I doubt it'll be long before it gets put back the way it was... I got two...
Here's a link to a CUCV thread showing my new trucks and trailer. (Hope this works!)

Ok, I've read with interest the recent discussion about the latest GL auction methods, and I've gotta say, they're working for me... :)
I came home from work today to check on some local lots that were ending at 6PM, and they all said "closed" on the main page a little after 5PM. All of...
Me too!
My second, third, and fourth green, but I still only have one deuce...
I was watching Lansing, MI action today and stuff went CHEAP! I didn't think I'd get any of this, but it looks like I did... Hopefully the trucks are in decent condition... The trailer (M101A1) needs a...
If I read your post right, you're only talking about 3' of water or so... On a '78 with 4" of lift and 33" tires, that's barely over the tire, and probably not even the floorboards. I wheeled a '78 1/2 ton with 31's and minimal lift for years, and put it through water that was about that deep...
I have a '96 GMC with a 6.5L turbodiesel. I'm currently running WMO through it in small quantities and I haven't noticed anything yet. I'm at about 10% right now. It was my intention that this would help the IP live longer with today's Ultra Low Sulfer diesel, but it's also saving me 10%...
Oshkosh lockers...
From my memory of working at Oshkosh Truck -- now nearly 10 years ago -- HEMTTs have limited slip rear axles only. PLS trucks (5 axle) have lockers that engage with air switches, but I think only the rear three lock. We did have some cool independent suspension prototype...
Toddm, where did you score those G177's??? They have the same tread pattern that's on the Marine's LVS trucks. I keep searching for some tires for my deuce that are a little more soft soil worthy than the normal street style tread G177 like Berg has... XL's are getting impossible to find...
I've been messing with my truck around the farm some now and I'm starting to think that it's excessively difficult to shift... It seems to have a LOT of slop in the lever, which makes hitting the gates difficult, and the detent springs to hit the 1-R and 4-5 gates are really stiff... Is this...
Pics for the visually stimulated...
Here's the pics I promised... Looks like the bottom of the worm housing blew out. I think the 1/4" bolt right there at the first u-joint is supposed to be the shear pin, isn't it?
Luckily the cable was all hooked through the tow eyes and to the bumper...
Well, I just got a phone call... It sounds like my buddy exploded the worm housing on my winch today... I think the drive was engaged even though the lock plate in the cab was down, and he flipped the front engage/disengage lever with the engine running and it pretty much just went "POP!". (I...
