Yeah, that's a D70. The 60 housing isn't quite so wide. You'll find a nice "D70" mark on the pig somewhwere near a side web. I think GM put the D70 in dually trucks with huge GVW's, where the 14 bolt wasn't heavy enough. Dodge used them in duallys forever too. I like the overload...

Whatever you do, don't spend money to fix that 10 bolt if you plan to keep the truck! Unless you really want it original, change the rear axle to a 12 bolt or 9.5" 14 bolt. The 12 bolt came in 1/2 ton trucks up to about 1980 or 81. It has an 8.875" ring gear compared to the 10 bolt's 8.5...

Looks like spacers on the back, as I can't see the center of the hubs protruding like they should on a 14 bolt. I have 2" spacers on mine to get the track equal, but they'd allow duals too. Me likes it's "younger brother"!!! Box on mine is... er, used... A flatbed with removable low sides...

I went to the local junkyard... For $25 each they have tested take-outs with no warranty other than if you get it home and it's junk, they'll give you another. (If asked, they'll bust out the tester for you, so you can see that they're good batteries before you take them. Better yet, for $35...

The issue with flat-towing any Deuce isn't so much the weight, as the fact that these trucks are set up with virtually no caster. Caster is what makes the wheels want to self-steer when led. (think shopping cart front wheels with the swivel in front of the wheel center... Now move the swivel...

I'd bet most, if not all 3/4 and 1-ton chevy vans are hydroboost as well. I believe they are ALL hydroboost right now. Parts are out there, just find an old junkyard with trucks. C
