Where did you get the different over drive gear and how much did it cost?
eta: Holy crap, your speed at 2600 rpm with the 43" tires is almost 72 mph!
What's it like to drive a deuce that fast?
I'm going to 11r20s at some point, for sure.
I just don't know how thrilled I am with turning up the fuel. Seems risky. Right now the ldt are plentiful... but it won't be that way forever.
And without doing that, the taller tires just means the truck is going to bog down on hills even worse...
lol, what does he care if you have it towed? Is his BIL the only tow guy in town or something? sucks that he wouldn't give you 10 minutes to swap the batts out...
We all love the ability to pour just about anything that burns in there... but the thing I constantly see is "My deuce is soooo wimpy!"
Well... yes. ~130 HP is what we have to live with. Unless you turn up the fuel a bit. But that will only take you so far before you run the risk of...
Why not?
One of the big problems with installing air conditioning in a deuce (and CUCVs) seems to be figuring out a way to mount the compressor to run it off the engine.
So why not just mount the compressor pretty much anywhere you want and couple it to a continuous duty electric motor? You...
I ran one this afternoon in a 1/2 ton pickup truck. I had 4k+ pounds in the trailer (tank full of waste motor oil) and 700 pounds in the bed of the pickup. Light turned yellow when I was about 2.5 seconds away, traveling 40 mph (speed limit was 45 mph)
My choices were either slam on the...
not too many actual canvas cargo covers floating around out there. there's a few companies that will sell you a new one, tho. new life, beachwood, and a third one I forget the name of at the moment seem to be the top three mentioned on SS.
Or you can go with a vinyl cover. You can buy those...
well, like every vehicle with batteries, you probably want to fire it up every two weeks if for no other reason than to let the batteries charge. Or just put them on a 24V charger.
Maybe once a month run it and drive it around a little to keep all your seals fresh and oiled up.
DO check your...

do a topic search for "exhaust" under the hot-rodding section. I found that one on the first try.
You're just going to turn the box into a cabin?
How much do you want for the box and what kind of shape is it in? I'd love to swap the cargo bed for a 109 box on one of my deuces.
The thing is, you don't exactly sign an agreement to keep it in the US. What you sign is an acknowledgment that you will obey all export laws. And if I read the law correctly, one of the things that requires extra hoops to jump through in order to do so legally is military vehicles.
My mep-002 works. I've got it mounted in a 101 trailer with the eye flipped so I can move it around with the silverado if need be.
I thought about putting it in one of the deuces, but the pickup is so much easier to maneuver around the yard.
