M1009 to M1008 differential gear ratio swap

I would have already changed both of my M1008's to 4:10 if it didn't require a carrier change

M1009 to M1008 differential gear ratio swap

The existing carriers in a M1008 is for 4:30 and numerically higher gears

M1009 to M1008 differential gear ratio swap

If you have an existing carrier for 4:10 and numerically lower, thick cut gears are available for a numerically higher gear ratio

M1009 to M1008 differential gear ratio swap

If you decide to go that route, you will have to change the carriers. And that is quite expensive at the moment...

Changing M1009 Rear Ratio from 3.08 to 2.73

I suggest a no on that. A 6.2 diesel is not exactly a power house engine and 2:73 gears would be too tall. Especially on a long hill. 3:73 gears with a 32x11x15 or 33x10x15 tire is a good combo. I ran 33x10.5x15 tires on a 74 K10 with 3:73 gears. 70mph was not an issue.. My current 79 K20 has...

    CUCVRUS Repair Projects

When I bought my 86 M1008, it had a Vintage Air full electronic AC system in non working condition. Long story short I got it fixed last year and now I'm spoiled lol

    M1028 6.2 Diesel won't stay running.

    Sounds like a starter..

    1984 M1009 cucv

Btw, swap out the old harmonic balancer asap. Those are a known weak spot on the engine. The balancer may look okay, but the rubber is hardened and dry. Those old balancer can fly apart real quick... and when that happens your 6.2 diesel is toast

    1984 M1009 cucv

Rule #1 avoid Autozone. They sell crappy parts. Just tell them it's for an 84 K5 Blazer. If your starter or alternators crap out on you, have them rebuilt.

    1984 M1009 cucv

Correct.. and always order parts for a 1984 on all cucv's regardless of year model

    IP/Injectors for 6.2 Turbo with 6.5 Heads

I'm looking at putting a 6.5 turbo in my 86 M1008. If I go that route I'll keep the DB4 electronic pump and relocate the PMD out from underneath the intake manifold

    IP/Injectors for 6.2 Turbo with 6.5 Heads

You can use your DB2 IP. The fuel will need to be turned up... and how much I do not know.

    Cold Weather Start

I had similar situation with my 86 M1008 when it got down to zero. Took 5 min to get it started. And when it warmed up it was a slug. I had also changed the fuel filter a few weeks prior to the artic blast we got. After that cold front moved out I put on another new fuel filter. The truck came...
