Southern Steel - did you put the white LEDs in for back up lights too? I saw those red ones...just wondering if the white ones would be good back up lights too
Wow, very clean set up and install! That engine set up is the dream of many! More engine photos please! Is the compressor on the driver or passenger side, looks like the passenger side...
The last 6.2 I saw on a 84 Suburban in a parts yard had the compressor on the drivers side and the...
Hey, not bad! You had us prepared for a total nightmare. Good interior, no major rust holes or broken glass (really pricey).
Bright side is now you'll have solid wiring and a new radiator 'cause you're gonna fix it yourself!
Sounds like you're on the right track! Welcome, lots of good entertainment here.
The TMs are great, often confusing but great. I have found that a sixteen ounce medication helps with the understanding of the TMs. LOL
Seriously, clean all grounds, everywhere. Trace all wires, replace...
Funny, mine too! After replacing all eight, connectors and the whole shebang...the glow light does stay on longer. Interesting...no problems so far though (other than those that already existed before!)
LMC and others have a good conversion kit. Expect to pay about $120 or so. I installed a set in mine, they look great and it was an easy install.
- Clean all grounds thoroughly
- Install/replace existing flasher with an electronic flasher at the fuse panel. not a heavy duty one
- It's also a...
Very well put sir. I admire your honesty and candor. [thumbzup]
QUOTE=M1008driver;1180151]Well, I will be honest here.
I did the Roscommon conversion last Saturday. I understand preserving these vehicles, I do. I use my truck in many desolate places and I need to be able to buy parts...
Dyocis,
Good thread. Your project captures many issues we all face or have faced. I'd like to hear how the progress is going on your project, as I am facing a engine rebuild or replacement and have a lot of concerns.
I'm curious how the swap will go. I was just told by a trusted mechanic...
Hey, good question. My rig, in the avatar, came from Alaska and did have some rust the old seals were rotten and the bolts into the cab were rusted, two of them had to be drilled out. Major PITA!
Good luck and keep the beer handy!
Welcome sir!
About the vent windows...I made a surprising find at our local yard of two complete doors off a same year ('84) Suburban. The vent windows were in much better shape and that's after I'd already bought new rubber to"fix" up my old ones. That was turning into a total PIA. So the...
I have exactly the same issue. Very frustrating when you've just bought new stuff and still doesn't work! I'll do this trick tomorrow! Thanks for the KISS idea!!
Yes, they do fit. I just finished the drivers door swap and will be doing the passenger side door today. I paid $50 for each at a local yard. The donor doors came from a 1984 Suburban and were complete with power windows and locks, rough but clean-able interior panels, complete glass and vent...
Go for it - it's a match. Another reason why these vehicles are so great...lots of available parts at good prices!!
I'm about to swap out my doors for the same year Suburban doors with solid vent windows AND power windows and locks. fat lady sings yippee!!
