This is a trip that could use dash cams to record the trip. Since your truck is a Brutus ( same as mine) I know he will do fine. I am not to sure how you will be after the trip since ears and butt are going to be numb. I hope the co-pilot is truly game. I have done runs this long and after the...
To check circumference, take tire off, make ground and tire then roll till mark on tire is at the ground again. Now do the other tire. Also switch front tires. You can remove hub cap and check for free spin of wheel bearings.
A ring failure at 1500 is most likely due to being overheated. A small coolant leak can cause this. The multi fuel engine will run low on coolant for quite some time. I know when the guy drove brute to my house, the rain was steaming off the hood. I found out it had a small leak and was 2...
Years ago we truck camped in Nova Scotia. Our last day we want to take the CAT across to the U.S. But. Hurricane had shut it down. We found a camp ground and had a choice of open field or trees. We choose trees to break the wind. Luckily that worked for us. Trees down all over except were we...
I use the "Hand in plastic bag trick". Put your hand in a plastic bag large enough for bearing cup and cone to fit in and seal. Trick is to turn bag inside out, scoop up some grease in your palm, take cone and starting with the wide side between the race and cage, push the grease in till it...
Is there any benifits to doing a lower end inspection to the engine? I know the valves requie adjustment but is anyone pulling mains and rod cabs off to check clearances and re bearing as required? I have no noise and good oil presure. No leaks. Runs good. Starts easily. Just thinking which gets...
Thank you. This type of info is priceless. Although, I purchased a torque multiplier from eBay also made in China. It works and is well made. I wish the US could manufacter again. It is the cost of debt to China.
So weather is good and Brute looks like he needs some attention. I have new fenders to replace my rusted out ones and I scored a cab from GL. So if I do the Crew cab to Brute, do I need to get a reconstructed title from MV? I am not removing an axle. Just shortening the bed and adding the extra...
With the ceramic disc and pads along with 6 piston calipers it may work. It would assist and be second circuit. The big issue is not allowed on street by DOT and/MV.
True. The issue is the level of questions being asked shows that sometimes (including myself) we need a more hands on teaching approach by someone who is a expert. That person does not have to be a master of all but should know the topic. The thing that concerns me is the tire questions. I am...
Pictures. Check parts prices for the new truck. A buddy of mine got a tow truck for a steal. He found out when he wheat to do the brake job the truck needed when he bought the thing. Not that good of a deal since parts alone cost upwards of $20,000. He sold the truck at a loss. Just check on...
As with any hub, you have to do maintenance on them. I found that coating the moving parts with copper never seize every 10,000 miles keeps things from binding up. I have had hubs explode from the torque. But maintenance will keep them working.
The red tacky grease is good. Banana grease is better. Full synthetic, will not break down in heat to 1,000 f. For what we do a good wheel bearing grease will work.
the wheel bearing has spun on the spindle. You need to grind down the spindle at the bearing. I knock the cage apart p then remove...
