I'm not going to entertain another senseless argument over the exact labeling of oil products when over and over lube manufacturers state that non detergent engine oil is interchangeable with gl-1 gear lube. Especially when the msds is almost exactly the same if not exactly the same depending...
Actually he's more correct than you realize. As I have stated over and over non detergent engine oil and gl-1 gear lube are just about identical. Hence why the guy who invented over dive for the deuce suggests it.
I feel like there is more going on with your transmission than what oil you used. 30 wt motor oil is almost exactly the same as gl-1 gear oil that these transmissions used for 50 or more years.
Well it would depend on how and when you checked it. But in this case you would be correct that the oil system does drain down.
Now if he runs the truck and it gets even higher than before that would indicate a problem.

All modern high quality oils have a potent detergent package that is intended to break down sludge. Your not going to cause a leak by switching from standard Rotella to Rotella t6 synthetic. Just an example.

Yall do know that running modern detergent oils and changing your oil regularly prevents sludge build up. Basically eliminating the need to flush an engine.
