Light work before the rally ( engine & trans swap + overdrive kit)

Ya I remember that engine. It was a nice one. Had a civi alternater and a bizarre exhaust set up after the turbo.

    M35a2 oils

Yes. But I can just about promise the oil won't be clear. That doesn't mean there's anything wrong with the oil though. With a diesel you can't let black engine oil scare you. It's just going to happen.

    M35a2 oils

I'm not going to entertain another senseless argument over the exact labeling of oil products when over and over lube manufacturers state that non detergent engine oil is interchangeable with gl-1 gear lube. M35a2 oils

I feel like there is more going on with your transmission than what oil you used. 30 wt motor oil is almost exactly the same as gl-1 gear oil that these transmissions used for 50 or more years.

    M35a2 oils

Well it would depend on how and when you checked it. But in this case you would be correct that the oil system does drain down. Now if he runs the truck and it gets even higher than before that would indicate a problem. If it consistently rises to the same spot then no.

    M35a2 oils

Not always true. It can also be a sign of fuel or coolant intrusion.

    M35a2 oils

All modern high quality oils have a potent detergent package that is intended to break down sludge. Your not going to cause a leak by switching from standard Rotella to Rotella t6 synthetic. Just an example. If something was leaking oil then chances are it was going to do so regardless of the...

What did you do to your deuce this week?

Yall do know that running modern detergent oils and changing your oil regularly prevents sludge build up. Basically eliminating the need to flush an engine.

No Fuel, No Start, No Idea

No I mean a circular piece of metal on the very bottom of the hh. It literally looks like a button.

Added 12v alternator, what size relay to use?

He needs to put the relay into his fuse bank. Not in between the alternater and battery.
