PSAM,
Welcome aboard. Good to see another semi local member. Where is the museum in PS?
I would like to pay a visit as well.
For those So Cal guys that are interested there is a parade in our town (Thousand Oaks, Ca) the end of April - Beginning of May. I offered to run my Deuce in it and they...
Jed,
Harbor Frieght also makes a gun stand for around $9 to hold the gun while you filter the paint. Great just to have to hold the gun at any time since you can not set it down or hang it easily. There is also a special aluminum paint cup that holds a liter instead of the quart furnished. It...
This one is great if you are laying on your back and painting the underside of the bed. Also easier to get in and around parts painted in place as no cup to get in the way - ie: you can get into tighter places.
Real downside - uses a lot of thinner to clean up.
Yes, that is the exact gun -...
I remember "white gas" as a kid. My dad bought it at Chevron Stations and we burned it in our camp stoves and lanterns. I was told later in life that it was an unleaded fuel. But that doesn't help you any does it.
Over and out.
Hey Leonard,
That really is coming along great especially when you have to drive an hour or so just to get to there to work on it. Once you get it back to your place you'll have it done in no time. That would be nice to see it at Lodi in April - no rush or anything. :)
That is going to be...
Hi RDD,
Why go to all the trouble of stripping off the old paint unless you are building a show car? If it is not chipping and/or falling off, it is stuck on pretty good. Pressure wash it (like Kenny did) to remove most of the crud, grime, oil, contaminants and then scrub it with a Scotchbrite...
Airpack Oiling
Just found the airpack oil maintenece in PS mag section (Well, actually Bjorn stuck my nose in it so I could see it). :)
When you say pneumatic oil, are you talking about the type that you put a couple of drops into the air inlet of air tools?
According to the PS this should...
I took my Deuce to a local car show and all I did was Windex the windows and arrive fashionably late.
Once I had it backed in and parked I opened the hood, the doors and the back flap of the cargo cover and lowered the tailgate.
The whole parking lot vacated their Corvettes, Porsches, T-birds...
Chuck,
Look in the yellow pages under plastics. You should find a plexiglass retailer in there.
If not and you need a hunk o' thick stuff let me know. I have a supply house about 15 minutes from me. Give me dimensions and I'll get you a price. Does't weigh squat so shipping should be minimal.
I have a suggestion:
If you had a router handy you could "mill out" a thicker piece of plex and save the two part attributes - possible leaks? Or if you had access to a machine shop you could really "mill" it out from a thicker piece.
Wow, I need to get on the ball here and get my Deuce up to snuff for a big journey. Beale is not far away from my shop in Yuba but that is 429 miles from where the M35 is. That would be great to drive it in there.
Glad you mentioned the dates for Lodi. I always thought it was on Memmorial...
Yes and no. There is a large one at Tower Park in Lodi over Memmorial Weekend. I plan on attending. It is in California, but not Southern. Maybe we should get the boys from SO Cal to start getting one together.
I also know that there is an impromtu get togther the first or second Saturday of...
Hey no interuption Kenny. I am actually learning something else here. I need to know more about these. I have heard the term Mighty Mite many times but I didn't know exactly what it was. I thought it was another endearing term for the M151 Mutt. Didn't know there was a whole other animal out...
Hey them little buggers are cool!
What kind of powerplant is in it?
Joe, can you get a picture of the engine area?
Is that a '64-'66 Chev pickup in the left side of the last picture? Looks clean!
