The tires are 11X20 Goodyear G286 tube radials. Real nice ride on these. Tomorrow I'll take pictures of where the anchors are used on these trucks. They basically stop the truck from moving forward or backward in the wrecker's case while winching.
Found a good place to mount the two anchor spades on my tractor that came off a 800 series wrecker. Front sockets have been mounted under he bumper and was looking for a place for these. I think I found it. Fabricated a rear mounting bracket that the eye end drops in to and gets pinned...
Here is a picture of the lights. You have to prop the hood up slightly with the lights in this location. You can put them on the injector side of the motor and can close the hood. They heat better where they are shown in the picture. You probably could just lay a couple of bulbs up in there...
An effective block heater on a diesel will save alot of wear and tear on the starter. On my 5 ton Cummins, the block heater on a timer to come on about four hours before use lets that thing fire right up after a night around 10 degrees without the cold start aid. For my deuce I use a poor...
Saturday, March 14th the Military Vehicle Collectors of Colorado will be participating in Denver's St Patrick Day parade with close to 30 vehicles. Last year over 200,000 people showed up and we won the entrants 1st prize. Anyone in the area come on out. We stage at 10 am in one of the the...
Anyone have a good source for a throwout bearing for an M818?? Mine went out luckily only 4 miles from my house and even luckier a fellow club member's truck was at my house WITH a towbar in its bed. No pics of the tow. It looks like the the throwout bearing collapsed into itself. I slowly...
Here is what I do. A 1/2' PVC pipe slipped inside a 3/4" PVC pipe lengths cut so the 1/2" can slide about one foot while in between the tires. You can use the same setup for all trucks. I wrapped some tape around the 1/2" pipe to provide for an interference fit but still allow motion. I...
These trucks are indeed like old aircraft radial engines and old Harleys, if they aren't leaking somewhere, I'd be worried. Some lucky few don't have that problem. A couple of club trucks are dry everywhere. Not mine.
Red, black, orange or green. Its still a deuce and you WILL have fun with it. We have a couple of deuce brush trucks here locally and they look pretty cool in rd.
Now it looks like even the smallest items on GL start out with a minimum bid of $150. At least in Colorado. Is that way everywhere else now? I have picked up a real nice gas powered compressor for $50 and a bunch of different cargo/truck tops in 2 big boxes for $50 also. Gone are those days...
These threads should be forwarded to all the insurance companies mentioned on the site. Maybe one smart one would jump on the opportunity to get involved and provide consistently priced and coveraged policies. Just look at the responses to this subject. There would be plenty of business...
Repositioned the trailer (more pics)
The trailer was put in a more "permanet" spot. And actually checking the data plate it is a M129A3. Couple of other vehicles were caught at this location.
Also not pulling a trailer and greasing it will create a dirt and debris magnet that will get caked with junk and look like crap. Clean and paint and if you ever do pull a railer all you will have to do is grease it.
