The tires on the M818 are 11X20 Goodyear G285 tube radials removed from a 900 series cargo truck. The current model of these tires is G287s. They are rated at 7700 lbs per tire at 120 PSI and man what a difference in ride and wet and snow traction. I'm running the same recommended pressure of...
Picked up a real sweet M129 12 ton van trailer and three rollaway tool/parts racks/bins today at Fort Carson GL yard. Trailer is a 1989 model with full airbarkes. Outstanding condition. Busy day at the yard. Had to wait on two M101 trailers and a deuce to be picked up before we cleared. We...
I was right the power for the 12 volts comes off the rear left battery's positive terminal. The circuit number is 569 and is hard to follow in the diagram but check my finger pointing to the terminal and the single wire coming off it is the power source for the glowplug. Tha may be another...
If the circuit is wired correctly and intact, 12V, the light should come on whether or not the glowplug is working correctly. My M818's glowplug had a broken element. the light on the dash still came on. Also found that when I picked the truck up from GL, the cold start circuit was wired to...
Mine went out on the M818. The one I put in was a Champion CH48. Got it from NAPA and they did not require buying 6 of them at least here in the Denver area. There were not very many left in their system they said. $28 if I remember right. And the CH48 is stamped with 6 volts on the main...
Is that an ash tray by the glove compartment in the interior pic?? That would would be one of the rarest "options" on a military truck I've ever seen. My deuce gets close to 12 MPG with cargo cover on.
hello again colomil, if you haven't already, check out this website of the big club here in the Denver area. http://mvcconline.org/ We have been working with each other to pick stuff up down there and in the last year we, the club have probably won a dozen deuces, a handful of CUCV's...
Colomil, that truck's super singles are Goodyear G286 radials and are real sweet tires!! I was lucky enough to scarf 10 of those bad boys on the rims for my M818. What a difference in ride and handling. those tires are worth every bit you paid for that truck. Saw it today (thurs 1-8) while I...
Here in Douglas County, south of Denver, I have my current deuce registered as an "Collector Truck/Tractor" and that comes with a pretty cool plate (1st pic). Its also a 6 year plate. Because of this even though Douglas County has emission tests for diesel trucks, it is not required for this...
This might help. Check out the pics. My M818 came with 7.5 X 20 rims and stamped on them is max 12 for 12 X 20's I take it. All 10 of mine have the welded centers. Most on my deuce have welded centers, a few are rivited centers.
Repaced Cummins 250 primer pump O-rings
Finally had to replace the two O-rings on the dash mounted primer pump. Not the greatest pictures of the assembly but you can see why I had diesel dripping off the plunger. Note the O-ring split. 36 year old O-rings tend to do this. Very easy to replace...
PICS Hooked up my M101 behind the BV for a test tow. Appears to be a pretty good match and looks right at home behind it. Follows the track marks nicely. Don't know how the trailer will ride in deep snow.
Migz, not as much snow here in Franktown but still had some fun with the BV206 AKA M973 Small Unit Support Vehicle and pulled a pickup out of the ditch on Hwy 86. Don't have pics of that. I need to carry the camera when I go play after a storm.
