I'd just go with hyd if I decided to use the winch. It sounds like it's going to be quite a ordeal to get a driveline to it and it won't cost much more to go hyd, by the time you buy all the driveline components.
I'm unsure what you're talking about on the PTO from the vendor. The only rear...
You my have to go hyd on the winch depending on if you can get the driveline to work with PTO drive. There's not a lot of wiggle room for the driveline in the radiator and bell housing area.
However you power the winch, you're going to have to have a PTO or figure a way to mount a engine...
This is the wheel that instills all the fear about tube type tires. While split ring tires can and have come off and killed people, the split rim is the one that has the most casualties. These things are very dangerous any time air is in the tire.
I saw the aftermath of one of these split rim...
I got my Jim frequency gauge installed and it works great.
I need to also pick up a couple of current/volt gauges but I'm not going to install them in the generator. I'm going to put them in a box right beside the house breaker box. I figure I can balance loads easier when I can watch the...
Running off one battery will work but battery life will be affected, even if you rotate the batteries.
My DC charging system is junk and I'm thinking of just running a 24v charger off of the AC circuit to keep the batteries charged. I guess if I went with two 12v chargers (one for each...
A few people make some good points. It all comes down to cost. My air assist came off a old bus and was free for the taking so I can't complain.
I also have a few of the components for a hyd setup and once I get enough stuff gathered up I'll probably put it on my other deuce. I was actually...
No. The glow plugs are wired in parallel on a MEP002. As Jimc has pointed out, it's almost impossible to wire the glow plugs in series because they ground through the threads. In a series connection, if one goes out they all go out in the same series (like Christmas lights).
One resistor for...
I honestly don't know why people hate the air assist so much. As I said above, hyd is better (judging by civi trucks I've driven of similar size with hyd) but the air assist is more than adequate. The only thing I've noticed with the air assist is you have to pull on the steering wheel pretty...
Good point, I guess I didn't think of that as far as the ground goes.
The only problem with pulling off one battery is you will unbalance the batteries and they won't last long. When the batteries are unbalanced, you are either overcharging or undercharging one of the batteries.
There was a kit right here in the classifieds for $1,500 (I think).
I heard all the stories of how the air assist wasn't very good but I found one cheap so I thought "what the heck, I'll try it out". I was pleasantly surprised. True, it's not as good as hyd but it is a vast improvement over the...
Only problem with using a resistor is the same problem the CUCV has. If one of the glow plugs burn out, the load will lower and the voltage goes up. This in turn burns out the rest of the glow plugs in short order due to over voltage.
Personally, I'd rather wire them in series. When one goes...
Looks like a basic hyd motor to me. Easy to reseal. Just take it apart carefully, remember where all the parts go, and keep everything clean. Replacing the shaft seal should fix your leak.
I'm not understanding your last post. Did you get the 30% refunded? Are they giving you the correct shear pins free of charge to make things right?
You can use the feedback system about this transaction if you wish.
On my deuce I mounted the plate on the mudflap holder. There are two holes already there. The don't line up with the plate holes so I just drill new ones in the plate. You do have to add some washers though to space out for the ribs in the mudflap holder.
