I can't believe I missed this thread.
I'd heard tell of a new fellow MV owner in town and even saw a strange 5-ton going around town the other day. I did a little investigating and I think I've found you.
Welcome aboard. If you need anything, give me a shout.
I've broken a 3/4 line in good shape with one of these winches. It was a pretty good pull so I was standing clear when it happened. I don't know what the load on the line was but it was beyond the breaking strength of the cable.
There is more to it than buying a winch kit if you also want to run hyd. There are also several options to run a hyd pump.
Here's a couple I did using different drives- http://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?60514-My-latest-dump-project&highlight=dump...
Yes, the Hz gauges are a problem item.
Look in the classifieds for Jim's replacement gauges. That's the best way to fix this issue.
NOS gauges and transducers are expensive and used ones are hit or miss to have the same problems.
I'd say it is a internal short. I guess if you're good with electronics you could probably repair it if you're dead set on keeping the push button.
I'm one of the push button haters. I had one and loved it until my truck caught fire. Luckily I was in the truck and saw the flames coming from...
Ok, do you have a switch under the dash that controls the front wheel drive or is it automatic.
If you have the switch under the dash, you have a air shift case.
If there is no switch, then more than likely you have a sprag (automatic) transfer case.
I think the PTO required is available on the civilian market but it's not a very common one. Chances are the ones you have on hand won't work.
If I can remember I'll crawl under my truck tomorrow and see if I can get a PTO number.
I had a similar thing happen on a 24 valve Dodge Cummins. The piston oil squirter broke off on #6 piston. Melted that piston in short order.
I know the 250 doesn't have piston sqirters but I fully understand what happens when a piston looses lube and cooling oil.
In other words, you can buy something with a condition code "B" and demil code "B". It may have a completely usable condition code but by the time you take possession of it, it will be nothing more than a pile of scrap.
It doesn't matter what condition code it is if the demil code is "B". It's...
I just use a spare wrench that I ground down thin to fit.
The main thing to remember is to not let the stud spin when adjusting. If I turns it can mess up stuff on the inside.
I learned long ago to have a "play money" fund and a "household" fund.
Everything I make at my day job goes into the household fund and I tell the wife she can do whatever she wants with it as long as the bills are paid.
My play money fund is everything I make on the side doing odd jobs, and...
Now may be a good time for people to brush up on the rules. As long as you abide by the rules and don't cause trouble in general, you'll never get a infraction point.
I handed out a infraction point the other day. Honestly, after I did it I kind of started feeling bad about it until I received...
Lean condition doesn't cause problems in a diesel like it does in a gas engine. If a diesel leans out it just won't fire. The main thing that causes a melted piston in a diesel is leaking injectors dumping too much fuel.
I hate to price another man's truck but it seems like you got a ok truck. Deuces have been going up in price lately.
You probably need a new kill cable. They are bad about freezing up if left sitting for awhile.
The smoking at idle is normal. It will also blow black goo out the stack if idled...
