I recently had a similar problem with my 1984 M1009. It turned out that the O-ring on the injector pump driveshaft had deteriorated. I had to pull the pump to replace it. After that, the truck ran perfectly.
Hope you resolve your issue. Please post your results.
Well, I crammed a Haflinger into my M101 trailer and am hauling it from Arkansas to Nevada. It's a slow ride going over mountains since the M1009 is loaded with a bunch of stuff too. On the flats, I can cruise around 60mph comfortably. Once I get the Haffie home, I will transfer it to my flat...
RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: M1009 Alternator Light coming on
I pulled my alternator and found that the positive battery post had burned on the inside of the alternator. It was an easy fix, a fifty cent bolt.
RE: Re: RE: M1009 Alternator Light coming on
I had my alternator tested and it is fluctuating in the amperage. My mechanic said it is probably a diode going bad. I'll pull it and have it fix it for me.
I didn't touch my gearing. The truck is a slug no matter what. I do like the top end speeds though. Not much ground clearance because I am used to my Unimog with 19" to the bottom of the rear pumpkin which was the lowest point.
I added 33" tires with no lift. Had to trim a little off the bottom of the fender though. I'm happy with the look of the tires and I don't think it needs to be lifted.
I only get 16.1 out of my M1009, highway and city. I did however, get over 20 while going to Virginia Beach. Top speeds were 60mph.
It hasn't smoked going over the Rockies but is sure is a dog with a trailer behind it.
I wouldn't mind getting more power out of mine as well.
My Gen 1 light is on very faintly but my alternator is fine. It's so faint that I can only see the glow at night. Any reason for this? The belts are the right tightness as well.
I'm making a cross country trip and want to make sure I don't have any problems.
Thanks in advance!
I just added a rear factory tinted window to my M1009 today. Having the sides and rear tinted will keep the truck cooler in the desert and it will keep prying eyes off of my work tools. It will also add some privacy when I sleep in the back of the truck.
Yes, I have pictures but I left the...
So that's what the "C" is for? Even the European bridge plates have a "C".
Note: European bridge plates have white numbers on a black background. Unlike the US with black numbers.
Thanks for the great info! I think it may be out of my budget but it has given me ideas of how to rig something up. I'm really hoping that the trailer has electric brakes. I only paid $850 for it on eBay last year. I think it was a great buy and I know I will get a lot of use out of it.
I'm not crazy about this design so when I get to my friend's shop in Albuquerque, I will put something together that will be a little stronger and better supported. Maybe even hold two fuel cans. I'll know better on a price with a better design.
RE: Re: RE: Finished product....
Very nice work!
I need to do something about my vehicles since I am away from home so much. But in the four years of living in a small town, I have not had a single problem with thieves. I get people wandering onto my property to check out the mv's but that's...
Ok...this may be a dumb question but I thought that all Blazers had the same size glass?
I was at a local junk yard today and saw a 1989 Blazer with a factory tinted rear window. When I asked about it, they told me it wouldn't fit my 1985 Blazer. Is this true? The body and cap are exactly...
